2020 Presidential Election: Biden v. Trump

I found out this week that the two members of my immediate family who voted Trump in 2016 are voting libertarian this time. I'm actually flabbergasted one of them is abandoning ship but that person is over 70 and has been quarantining since march. The last few weeks seems to have pushed her in that direction. Better late than never. Hopefully this same movement is being repeated in households across the country.

It is in mine.

I don’t know if they would tune out of politics. The Republican base desperately needs them. The Republican candidates who engage them will win the 2022 primaries and the 2024 primary. I saw a good analysis that listed the Republican senators up in 2022 that are extremely vulnerable from the fringe and in a general and it’s a long list. Q may be the biggest kingmaker in the GOP post-Trump.

This election is just part of a process of weeding the deplorables out of politics. We blew it in 2016.

Reading the FB posts of some of my parents still living friends and other relatives just makes me shake my head. Apparently if we elect Biden we are about 80% of the way to becoming the USSR in the 60s-70s.

I swear to Jesus tittyfucking Christ is the Democratic GOTV effort starts drinking this koolaid, I may got drown myself in the ocean. His cult will go vote for him if he died 3 days before. It’ll be like Laker fans bringing flowers to the Staples Center. If liberals let up at all, he wins.

I'm working for a GOTV organization and see more comments everyday about how there's no reason to trust the polls at all - just keep cranking out more organizers and canvassers. I haven't seen any signs of "drinking the koolaid" at all, just excitement about continuing to get people to the polls.

I see it too, but this happens every four years. No matter who the Democratic nominee is, they're really just a closet socialist or communist who is going to take away our freedoms and impose a Soviet-style economy on the good old US of A. I've been hearing that from Republicans since at least the Reagan-Mondale campaign back in 1984. They never change.

Uh...

Sure seems like trump is giving up trying to win the votes and preparing to go all in on voter suppression and using the courts and the mmmmm judges mmmm to stay in power.

The number of RVAT who would turn out for Pence is far, far lower than the number of mouth breathing MAGAts who would totally tune out of politics if there was no Trump.

I asked this question to the hacks on tap guys, maybe they will answer it. For those not listening to hacks on tap podcast, I highly recommend it. Some language though if you are toting kids around in the car.

GOP internal polling shows Trump down in Ohio so he has to advertise, unless he is just out of money.

Maybe it was linked on here, but I saw an article that said losing OH pretty much kills Trump's chances of both winning the election and having a lead on election night, if there are some states that are still waiting on ballots. That OH will be one of the first states to report final results on election night, and with a Republicans in charge of the state, there is little chance to call foul there.

Yes. Fla is on that list, too.

His campaign is having $$ issues, and they've planned on using the court system all along. And he's more than planted the seeds that we're not going to have a fair election. But he really needs to have an apparent lead on election night.

I don't think you understand the jokes you are trying to make. You wouldn't last a day on the helpdesk

What happens to unspent campaign funds? Can't he just collect and not spend and then apply those funds to some later campaign(s)?

You are really dumb. I'll spell it out for you. She lost by a razor approximately 1% of the vote in an election run by her opponent. He was disenfranchising voters for years prior to that election. It worked. I'll just tip my sombrero in your general d'erection though. (See what I did there?)

Yes. I believe he can also contribute those funds to some other politician's campaign, or the RNC.
I think if he loses and has a bunch of money still in the bank, it will all get paid as "consulting fees" to his friends and family, or maybe if one of his kids decides to run for something it will all get transferred to them.
