2020 Presidential Election: Biden v. Trump

I do get the sense, more than in 2016 or 2012, that people's minds are simply made up and that the number of undecided voters is tiny. Given that so many people have already voted, it also makes any last-minute events even less important. So whether this debate moves the needle with even a fraction of voters is doubtful.
 
News media talking heads are praising Trump this morning, saying that it was his best debate performance, not because he laid out any plans for a second term (he has none) or that he coherently discussed any topic, but because he didn't rant and rave like a maniac. Meanwhile, nearly 230,000 Americans are dead from the coronavirus, the virus is surging again (70,000+ tested positive yesterday according to ABC News, the fourth-highest total since the pandemic started), and Columbia University is out with a study showing that if the Trump Administration had implemented a competent response to the pandemic from the start that 130,000 to 210,000 of those 230,000 dead Americans might still be alive. Yet Trump may gain a few points in the polls because he didn't act like a lunatic last night. What a fucked-up nation we live in right now.

Or maybe the enemy of the people are following a "Keep your friends close and your enemies closer" approach to the election this year...?
 
Biden won that debate but he sure gave Trump a lifeline in certain important states with that frackalicious answer he offered about doing away with fracking. Dumb. Just be clear and concise. I will only ban fracking on Federal lands and we need to find a way over time to transition to renewables while projecting jobs in areas where oil exploration happens with incentives for people to produce the hardware to make renewables in those locations. Something similar, anything. BC all some people heard in Texas and Western PA and Southeast OH was - no more subsidies and your jobs are going away.

Much simpler than that. They just need a narrative to fill the hours of content their channels need.

No, people are saying that the media is about entertainment and ratings instead of news. Trump is more entertaining than Biden in the way a car crash is more entertaining than a guy working at his desk for 8 hours.
