Oh gosh where to begin.

Mako, Live Through This is in no way close to the best grunge album. Grunge bands, in order, go Nirvana, PJ, Alice in Chains, Soundgarden, STP, and then there is a conversation from there.

RedSox, Built to Spill is one of my all time favorite bands. The Live album is amazing. Martsch is the fucking man, super underrated.

Cracked Rear View is a great album. Dave Matthews Band was a great live act. I don't think I'll be introducing my children to them with the reverence my dad had for Zeppelin, but they were very good acts for what they were.

Tool is one of my top 5 favorite bands, and I assure you they are not numetal.

Ummm, based on everything that followed your initial assertion, I feel relatively confident in my position, counselor.

Speaking of music, I have developed associations between certain songs and long road trips because of how often I heard the song during the drive. I remember mid-90s driving from Athens, GA to West Palm Beach, Florida and I heard "Cumbersome" by Seven Mary Three and "Possum Kingdom" by the Toadies at least a half-dozen times each just on the drive down. For my honeymoon, my wife and I rented a car and drove all around Scotland. That trip was "Ignition (Remix)" coming on several times each day. A few years ago, we drove from VT to TN to see my family and we heard "Bad Blood" 18 times and "Shut Up and Dance" 16 times (I think I'm remembering that right). Walk the Moon made a huge comeback on the drive back home. Every time I hear one of those songs it takes me right back to a very particular stretch of road I was on (FL Turnpike, A9, I-81 through VA).

Following up my post on the Black Friday thread, I found a new set of Cuisinart Multiclad Pro cookware for $125 from a pallet sale. This cookware fucks. I regret not investing earlier in stainless steel, instead of getting non-stick shit from my wedding registry.

Holy shit The Great British Bake-off is addicting.

Today I’ve made two loaves of pumpkin bread, a pumpkin pie, a pecan pie, and prepped cinnamon rolls for breakfast.

I had stainless steel years ago and now have a Calphalon non stick. I think if it were just me I’d still have stainless.

I definitely could not pick a single favorite 90’s alt rock song. I don’t think I could even pick a single favorite Nirvana song...Very Ape or Radio Friendly Unit Shifter, or Smells like teen spirit...I can’t pick.

Of their non hits, Francis Farmer is probably my favorite.

didn't word come out that Cobain had a... large... influence on the first hole album and the Billy Corrigan had a... large... influence one the second?

Scentless apprentice, About A Girl, Very Ape, Something In the Way, Sliver, Drain You, Lithium, Francis Farmer, In Bloom, Stay Away, Polly, Been A Son, Molly’s Lips, goddamn it is tough. You Know You’re Right has actually stuck with me more than almost other song. It’s heart wrenching and still just fucking rips.

This is great

I don’t think I’ve ever met a Kings fan in real life. I don’t think I’ve even seen someone just wearing Kings gear. Definitely one of the most irrelevant franchises in sports.

Digable Planets "Blowout Comb" is a top '94 album

also, the Lion King soundtrack

Excellent take. I think I’ve only ever heard a song from that album once on the radio or randomly anywhere. I listened to that CD many many times all the way through but I can’t tell you the name of any songs. Years later I read this review that explained it perfectly as “lyrical communism.”

http://www.kalamu.com/bol/2005/06/19/digable-planets-“black-ego”/

"On Blowout Comb, the Digable Planets were able to achieve something very rare among hip-hop albums: no MC stands out any more than any other, no song stands out any more than any other, no line stands out any more than any other, and I’m tempted to say no word stands out any more than any other also. I feel they subtly achieved what they tried to directly explain to the listener through their first album – lyrical communism. I have listened to this album at least a hundred times and not only do I appreciate it more every time I listen to it, but I also can hardly remember any lyrics to any of the songs." —Unknown customer at amazon.com

“The first time I heard it—maybe even the first few times I heard it—I was underwhelmed. Not that I considered it bad—the music didn’t leave a strong enough impression to say even that. But I kept listening. Do yourself a solid and give Blowout Comb time to sink in. Eventually it may become for you what it is for me: a sixty-minute tone poem affirming the ephemeral beauty of a hip-hop band that came and went far too quickly. And, given that it has yet to be certified gold, Blowout Comb may also be the best hip-hop album you’ve never heard.”

I can’t think of a bad Nirvana song.

I absolutely loved that Nirvana would often have a guy on stage just going apeshit dancing the whole show (Dancing Tony!). They probably weren’t the first, but I can’t think of another mainstream band that ever did that.
