it does seem like there's no way we come back with teddy again..... would be super awkward at this point

Why do people like a poor man's Johnny Football so much in Wilson as a potential top 5/10 pick? I guess the NFL has changed that much in 7 years?

Did what the Bucs do give lots of teams false confidence that all they need is a quarterback.

I don't think that's it. Mahomes looks like he's an all-time great. Brady is going to play until his mid-40s. Teams are dissatisfied with their QBs by comparison. They either want to get a guy who can be THE GUY for the next 15 years or get a guy who can help them win now. There's been no patience with coaches for awhile. Now there's no patience with QBs. Goff, Garroppolo, and Wentz/Foles took their teams to the Super Bowl and are considered garbage now.

I really like Zach Wilson (even trading up for him) or Justin Fields if he falls to 8

I'd also be good with Mac Jones or Trask in the 2nd round

Not a fan of Trey Lance in the 1st round or Mariota

Russell Wilson is an interesting longshot

The Jets are shopping Darnold, which means they like Wilson and are drafting him there, or they're trading the #2 and other picks for Watson, in which case Houston takes Wilson. So the logical conclusion is Wilson is off the board at #2 either way. I've warmed up to Jones, but ain't no way he's making it past 19. You might be able to trade back a little ways and get him, but that's not happening in the 2nd. I'm not a fan of Trask in the slightest. I see you as to Mariota. Lantz is intriguing, though. He's probably raw and wouldn't start right away, but I see him as a high ceiling/low floor bit of a risk. Wilson ain't happening this year. The cap hit Seattle would take is prohibitive. I think he's just voicing his displeasure to flex some muscle and get some concessions from the team - not sure what those concessions are other than improving the OL, and he kinda has a point there. If he's on the market, it's probably more like next season. I just think you guys are kinda stuck at #8. You're not in a position to get Wilson at #8 or trade up to #2 without giving up a ton. And I see a considerable drop off in quality after Wilson - I'm wary of Fields. And you don't have the draft capital that NYJ and Miami have to get Watson. Carr might be the best option if he ends up on the trade market. Who knows whatTF Gruden is thinking minute to minute.

i agree with this

after approximately 1 million mock drafts, i think i traded the #8 pick 90% of the time

which really makes beating the redskins even more frustrating!

Or stick with Bridgewater for 1 more year and take Smith or Parsons at #8 and load up with as much supporting talent as you can. That could put you in a position to go at Rodgers or Wilson next year. Also means you should do a lot of due diligence on Fields, Lance and Jones this year. I'm becoming convinced the 1st 3 picks this year are Lawrence, Wilson and Chase, and #5 is Sewell. Atlanta is the question - do they fall in love with Fields and trade Ryan? You might could have your choice of Fields, Lance or Jones because I don't think Detroit goes QB this year.

For non football reasons I sincerely hope we don’t end up with DangeRuss. I obviously recognize his talent but don’t wanna have to force myself to root for him.

Would be strange to end up with Fields after thinking for so long he was going to be the number 2 pick off the board.

with the way tepper and rhule have been openly looking for a QB and passive aggressively shitting on TB... might be awkward to bring him back at this point

Meh, bottom line is he's making as much with y'all as he'd make elsewhere, if not more, and he understands that, the nature of the game and that he wasn't fantastic this past year. And I've always heard he's a good guy, just not a legit franchise QB. He's in the same boat as guys like Mariota and Tyrod Taylor, and those guys appear to understand their lot in life. Getting paid $10-15mil to play the sport they love beats the alternative.

You can say that for any number of teams. Teddy knows he needs to play better.

In my mind Bridgewater, was more effective with the Saints than with the Panthers. But I don't think the stats (other than wins) actually back that up.

teddy is the perfect example of the huge difference a top top tier QB makes versus an avg one

so many one loss games, and he just can't deliver

David Newton seems to still believe the Panthers have a shot at Watson. Under ESPN's "Bold Predictions" article:

The Panthers will find a way to trade for Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson.

He wants out of Houston even though the organization insists he won't be traded. The Panthers will do whatever it takes, even if that means offering three first-round picks and possibly a star player, although including Christian McCaffrey seems unlikely. But as ESPN draft analyst Mel Kiper said, it would be worth throwing in McCaffrey if necessary to get a franchise quarterback. -- David Newton

Odds Teddy B is our starting QB Week 1?

I’d say 50%.
