Juice have you said what you majored in before?

I think one of my biggest regrets from Wake aside from being pre-med for a semester was not majoring in Spanish. I placed into intermediate and had a ton of enthusiasm for the language, but by the time I was done with Spanish lit I had lost interest. I should have kept on with it and studied abroad in Spain or South America. I think my intermediate professor is still there, and I was on a Spanish subreddit a year or so ago and someone mentioned a book they were using, and it turned out he had helped to write it.

I had a lot of interest in Spanish too. I planned to minor in it until Spanish lit. I wish I had stuck with it, but for some reason I had no desire at the time after the lit class.

I had planned on majoring in English the whole time but when I took the Spanish placement exam and placed into I think 213(?) whatever the final required course is, and then did well in that figured I might as well keep going and majored in that as well. Studied abroad in Salamanca my jr year as part of the program run by the Spanish dept which was incredible.

Word, that’s a tough one.

I had no idea what I wanted to do in college -- I'm a glaring example of a privileged kid going to expensive private school just because I could get in, no thoughtfulness about much beyond that

in the end, philosophy taught me how to think and write much better; I'm grateful for it

but I also did not retain much in the way of understanding philosophy

yeah, I had to add an enterprise and social entrepreneurship (or something like that) minor my junior year so that my study abroad classes would qualify as Wake credit

I was a history and philosophy major because they interested me and I knew I was going to law school. Philosophy majors do well on the LSAT.

I got a 2.9 my first semester and buckled down after that. My worst GPA was studying abroad because everything was graded on a C curve and I was one of the only participants whose school transferred grades versus pass/fail.

The transition between law school and wake was way easier compared to most of the people in my class.

Nice, is it something you still use every day?

Got it. Yeah those critical thinking and writing schools are so valuable in any field. I’ve always been a fairly strong writer but that definitely helped me level up considerably.

When I actually started trying to write stuff I was only ever doing short stories so no, not really. I was very into Kerouac in high school and then I actually tried uppers and was like uh maybe I don’t have what it takes to be a beatnik

We should revive that short story thread. I’ve got a couple that are part of a larger interconnected work that I’d like to let a couple people look over.

Only when he’s posting on the boards.

Beat me to it. And I was gonna post the “it’s not a lie if you believe it” costanza quote again.

And juice I also write some terrrrrrible poetry as well. But you can’t see that.

Every now & then I catch the first few min of Entertainment Tonight after the Nightly News and the obsession with celebrities is mind boggling. Harry & Megan helped fix a roof!? Wow!
