Top Chef + Portland is the exact intersection of my interests
 
Portland is great. Gregory's resto (Departure? The hotel one) was an awful experience tho. My only regret is I didn't go to Portland with a larger group for easier reservations and stay about a week longer to hit all the places on my list.

I think the Fresh Market space at Thruway might’ve gotten divided into smaller spaces?

When I left, Fresh Market was on Robinhood between Harris Teeter & Lowe’s. No cheap groceries in that area.

One of my favorite evenings in college. There were several brave two burrito men, but only one three burrito hero

(No idea about what shop it was...definitely could be wrong. Whole foods just sounds fancy...But that's basically buena vista, so...)

That's my home neighbourhood after I defected from RJR-land to Sparta. Don't forget GOLDEN APPLE for your highest-end groceries
 
My b about whole foods. Guess we were even fancier than I remember. Funny bc there is a Harris teeter literally a block away (with that sweet thai restaurant inside) and another teeter maybe a half mile down the road at thruway. Not great planning.

and now there is a giant Publix across the street!
 
Which was actually pretty great pre-pandemic. Get all my pantry staples and loyalty brands from childhood at Publix then hop across the street to Whole Foods for meat & produce.

It’s an oasis of grocers.
 
It was def a Whole Foods at least as early as fall 03 my freshman year. Wish we had TJs during my time at Wake but I went to Borders a lot. I think Fresh Market moved like soon after I graduated because I went to the Thruway location only once or twice but went to the new one a lot for tailgate food since my former Wake roommate took a corporate job with them and he got a discount.

Insane! If I were in college now though, I'd still be hitting up the shitty kitty, as they called it, for $9.99 24-packs off Busch Lite.

Was it WaketheUniverse that filled up his entire closet with cases of busch lite?

First time I'd even *heard* of a TJs was on a track trip when we stopped for food the night before a race. Basically everybody except for the three NC bumpkins, myself included, was so pumped. I remember buying teddy grahams bc I used to not be able to eat like 24 hours before racing from nerves

What’s in the development near Thruway? Was newish back around 2016 maybe? I know it had a LA fitness but that’s all I know.
