Wake Forest Basketball Recruiting: Juke Harris Commits!!

These initial UNC '22 recruits are pretty underwhelming for Hubert Davis's initial class.

I'm sure they will turn out to be fine players (I know we really liked Shaver), but starting with two guys outside the Top 100 (for now) strikes me as odd.

Never mind. I was wrong. Hubert doing just fine. Sheesh.

Like we all said before, it’s UNC. Cardboard cutouts of Dean and MJ on the sideline should be able to recruit 5 star talent there.

Don't disagree but most competent coaches (f u ronnie) get a honeymoon phase. Check back a cycle or two from now.

Huebert still has to coach the game. Doh had a roster full of top high school recruits

I think Doherty would have ultimately been successful at UNC-CH. He won a National COY award and recruited the core of the team that won Roy's first national championship.

It's so hard to tell if this is serious or not.

Hubert is going to be a disaster. These people who think you can be a head coach, when you have never been a head coach, are clueless. Same thing goes for Duke. Greatest thing to happen to Wake bball in 50 years. Forbes has head coaching scars. If you can't roll now, you just can't.

I love this take and hope you’re right.

Never been a head coach AND immediately following legends just does not seem like a successful formula. The coaches after Heubert and scheyer probably do great .

And that is Forbes’ window to move the program forward. He will have 3-4 years before UNC and Duke right the ship.

Wasn’t commenting on the ultimate success or Davis as a head coach. I had just criticized his initial recruiting, but he’s brought in some nice transfers since then… And now a 5-star for ‘22.

Forbes is The Judge. Been beat down to nothing on a scandal. Multiple head coaching. No ACC bias. Here for one reason. Win. While these douchbags try to keep the past alive. We are in the best spot in years.

As long as ratface has an office on Duke U grounds, they are over. You would have to drag his ass out on ice IMO.

I spoke to an ACC AD recently and he seemed very enthusiastic about the opportunity for all of the other teams due to Dukes and UNCs coaching choices.

Regardless of how you think both new coaches turn out, this is the best opportunity for other schools. If they'd gone out and gotten an established top name, they likely wouldn't be missing a beat. But by keeping it in the family, they have at least given the other schools a few years while the coaches grow into their roles (pessimistic view) or possibly have even hired guys destined to fail and will be looking for new coaches in 3-5 years (optimistic view).

Scheyer is going to better than you think.

Either you are unaware or dont think it's a real job, but Davis has successfully led the UNC JV team for several years. You may laugh but it is a HC position. Probably not the level of ETSU but as good as NAIA or DIII.

I hope we begin to regularly pound the Tar Heels but I think it's premature to assume Davis will be a failure

It is so hard to tell sarcasm on here. Since you have "80" in your name, I am going to assume this is a sincere take.

I was thinking the exact same thing. The post is so incredibly well written that I cannot tell if it's parody.

Well, that job gave him some game coaching experience with not quite ACC level players against other similar teams. And his recruiting was mightily aided by the coat tails of Roy Williams. Pretty easy to believe some guys would be on the u*NC JV to be in a position to catch the eye of Roy and earn a promotion.
