I have never read a Harry Potter book nor seen a Harry Potter movie. My honors freshmen almost revolted when I told them this earlier in the year.

This was me until earlier this year when my 7 year old daughter started reading them (I bought her the books for Christmas). We read the first 3 together, but then they got kind of dark... So I've continued to read them by myself.

Perhaps not great literature, but they are a fun read. We've only watched the first 2 movies so far. I'll wait for her to read the books before we watch the movies.

Yeah, I read the series out loud to each of my kids and as we ended each book we watched the corresponding movie. That was fun.

it's been a slow reading summer, been reading my subscriptions -- n+1, Paris Review, London Review of Books -- mostly

book-wise, I've been getting into the Tyrant Books and Two Dollar Radio output -- big fan of Bud Smith's stuff, finished Work and Double Bird recently -- he's great

have you ever read Scott McLanahn? Crapalachia or The Sarah Book are two good ones.

Crapalachia has been on the list for a while. How was it? Tbh, while I understand all of the issues with Appalachia, for some reason I don't really enjoy books that paint my beloved hillbilly hills in a negative light.

I don't think it's negative -- it's autofiction about growing up in West Virginia -- I found it very touching though definitely a bit self-deprecating

the HP books are legit good fantasy books. don't let the media empire and JKR's weird politics throw you off.

i'm having burnt ends from the bbq place in highlands and it is fucking delicious.

I started the Vorkosigan saga, pretty good so far, only two books in though (Barrayar and Warriors Apprentice).

@DeaconCav06: This seems as good a time as any to ask if you (or anyone else) has any good articles that you recommend where someone helps explain the ordering of -11, -36, -28, and Sec. 1017 when a debtor corporation's stock is foreclosed upon

Yeah I have a face in my head for all of you people and there was a big discrepancy between the two.

Birdman is 60 years old with heavy grey hair combed to the side. 70s glasses. Wears a lot of yellow polo shirts.

Mako is a jacked-as-fuck Italian bro covered in black hair.

Townie is the city of Asheville crushed into the shape of a man that smells like patchouli and has two puffy nipples tacked on it. Smart as fuck doe.

ATS is his avatar.

Lol knight

Way to go with the new fame birdman!

Just ate the new bojangles chicken sandwich...woof...I don't recommend
