2021 Carolina Panthers Thread - Time for the 2022 thread

Leftwich will go to the Jaguars.

Doug Pederson is still out of work. He's going to get another chance from somebody and it might be as HC.

eh - not impressed with guys out of the Reid coaching tree, and Bienemy isn't young

Seems like Leftwich should be the Jags first call

John Harbaugh waves hello. I also like McDermott and think he's a good fit in Buffalo, despite the record in 1 score games this year. I also like Rivera and Bowles. It wasn't Bowles fault that the 2 NYJ GMs prior to Douglas were atrocious, and he kept some talentless teams mildly competitive. And he's been a good DC in 2 stops for Arians. I wouldn't be surprised if he gets another HC opportunity. And Rivera kept Carolina competitive as long as Cam was healthy. That said, I do not like Pederson and Nagy. In retrospect, I've started thinking that Eagles SB was more due to Reich than Pederson. Probably down on Shurmur too. I wasn't a Spags fan during his brief stint in Balmur, but he's done a good job at KC other than moving Jones outside earlier this year. So at worst, it's a mixed bag. It's strange that Bienemy still hasn't gotten a HC job because he appears to have Reid's enthusiastic support. Unless Reid is just saying those things because he wants 2 extra 3rds.

Leftwich to Jax was my 1st thought as well. And while Shad Khan seems like a decent guy, he made a bad call on Coughlin and keeping him as long as he did, and he made an atrocious call on Meyer. So I gotta question his judgment. Add to that he probably needs a new GM as well because I think Meyer brought in his guy for GM and Meyer had roster control. And that draft was nothing to write home about. You have tons of holes on that roster, and you draft a RB in the late 1st when you return a 2nd year player who had 1K yards?!? And only 1 rookie I think is starting. Khan needs to raze what is there and completely start over, which probably means addressing GM 1st. So it's possible you could get to talk to Leftwich before Khan does.

Ugh, the was one terrible decision and terrible pass by newton. woof.

I think he was trying to throw it out of bounds but his elbow hit Moton’s helmet.

I always shake my head at the beginning of games when then commentators say the Panthers have one of the best defenses in the league.

Gave up 19 points so far to a depleted offense that got shutout last week.

2021 Carolina Panthers Thread - 5-8 Bills/Bucs/Saints/Bucs remaining

I don’t care how good of an interview Matt Rhule gives, this Carolina team sucks and is going nowhere. These players are barely even trying to play decent football. Fire the guy ASAP. It’s not going to work.

But if you want to lose out to get a top 5 pick, there’s no better guy than Matt Rhule.

At least Rivera could get teams to play well in lost seasons. Rhule is a disaster. He’s gotta be gone Black Monday

2021 Carolina Panthers Thread - Early draft talk?

Not last year

Thanks to Rivera.

The Panthers are currently 5-10 with the #7 pick. Assuming they lose to the Saints and Bucs, the Panthers will finish 5-12. Below is how remaining games impact draft position.

The Panthers can get to the #5 pick outright if two of the Bears, Texans, Jets, or Giants win twice and the Seahawks win once. The Panthers could tie for the #5 pick if two of the Bears, Texans, Jets, or Giants win once. The Panthers can't fall any lower than #8 and could end up as high as #3. The most likely scenario is #6.

Here are the games of interest:

Seahawks-Bears is on right now.

If the Bears win, the Bears, Seahawks, and Panthers are 5-10 in the #6, #7, and #8 spots.

If the Seahawks win, the Panthers remain at #7 and the Texans, Jets, Giants, and Bears are 4-11 in the 3-6 spots.

Week 17 games:

Giants vs. Bears - Somebody has to win this one.

Bucs vs. Jets - Don’t give the Jets much of a chance here.

Texans vs. Niners - Texans could win this but doubtful.

Lions vs. Seahawks - Good chance for the Seahawks to pick up that win but the Lions can surprise. The Lions could still win one game and keep the #2 pick.

Week 18 games:

WFT vs. Giants - Don’t see the Giants winning anything but WFT may be out of it here too.

Bears vs. Vikings - Not likely for the Bears.

Titans vs. Texans - Doubtful

Seahawks vs. Cardinals - The Seahawks could be in the playoff hunt if they beat the Bears and Lions and have help but if that’s the case they’re not in the way for the #5 pick.

—————

Bears win so it’s a 3-way tie for the #6 pick at 5-10 with the Bears and Seahawks.

Damiere Byrd with a crazy endzone toe tap on the 2 point conversion. But that’s only his second craziest endzone catch.

If Rhule isn’t gone by next season I’m not even bothering in 2022. Dude is a bad coach and seems like a bad dude.

so is Cam a hall of famer? I say yes, especially the rushing touchdown stats that he has.
