is it even really a separate thing

or does her temporary inability to sense it reveal just how real the device is as an extension of her self

…well…does palma find her any more or less attractive in the moment he sees the phone in her hand…?

while I find a lot of critical theory pretty interesting, it often feels like it all kind of exists for its own sake

for as much shit as they get, i enjoy reading some of the core frankfurt school texts

a lot of their fears ended up coming true, too, so it's kind of funny to read about how mass culture, technological rationality, etc. would create the dystopian hellscape that we basically live in today

a familiar charge but i wouldn't put the naval gazing critwork up against the praxis-oriented critwork

and even the naval gazing stuff can be used for emancipatory purposes

A good question, and a conversation I always have with students when we read this (it's from a work of fiction)

I suppose the character would say (and theorists would agree) that some people carry their trauma in physiologically specific ways (like parts of their bodies) and I wouldn't be surprised to hear that the interaction between memory and pain exacerbates PTSD and is a source of ongoing trauma.

Isn't BBD a physical therapist? I bet need have some insight.

Some people develop chronic pain because their nervous system is on alert after an injury and lowers the threshold for pain, so they are in pain even when there is no organic tissue damage.

Pain Neuroscience Education is an approach to treat it.

But I mainly treat people for acute issues, not chronic so I don’t use it every day.

OFY about to hit up the home team bbq in Greenville. John Lewis’s spot better open soon.

If I had known palma was gonna do darts updates, I would have been giving updates from the World Rapid and Blitz. Pretty wild day. Hikaru having to withdraw with Covid. Magnus faltering. Crazy late surge by Alireza came up just short.

COVID has done a number on the world championships in darts too. Pretty much took out the entire Dutch contingent which got together over Christmas, taking out Michael Van Gerwen one of the favorites in the process.
