WFU Hoops: '22-'23 Roster Construction Thread: +Ituka/Carr/Appleby/Bradford

BS to that, unless you have something showing Deacs were in payola and test frauds behind the scenes, unlike several Tobacco Road schools.

Correct. What did we give James Johnson to come here from Wyoming?

Or for a transfer, Anthony Tucker to come here from Georgetown?

If that 5 ft 11 guard from K State is worth 800K, then Tucker was worth about 2 million.

BHH to Louisville. Manning likely a factor. My son talked to him earlier last week, told me it was between Wake and Louisville. Close doesn’t count, I guess.

Johnson went to HS in Wyoming, where we recruited him to Wake. He didn't go to Univ of Wyoming and transfer to Wake. But maybe I'm misreading your post.

Damn. A second lost one with the visit cancelled.

Tennessee transfer Brandon Huntley-Hatfield has committed to Louisville, he tells On3.

The former five-star prospect becomes Kenny Payne’s first commitment as head coach. He discussed his decision with On3:

“The connections Coach KP (Kenny Payne) has is amazing and I genuinely feel like he’s being honest with me. Whilst he was at Kentucky, he recruited & developed so many guys like me… guys that are where I ultimately want to get one day. I feel like he can help me in multiple ways.”

I feel like a dude who started a sentence with "Whilst" would have been a good fit at Wake.

So I guess we're going to hear about how the staff didn't really go after BHH and there's another week for players to enter the portal.

Les and Cam already doing their thing over there...

I still think Forbes puts together a good roster and has us on the bubble again. The deck is stacked against us right now with NIL and our transfer limitations, but Forbes is the man, and will end up pulling a rabbit outta his hat. It's just what he does.

All that said, Wake fans have been through hell the past 10 years, up until last season, so we are naturally going to be somewhat "doom and gloom" until we get some positive news.

Sooooo, we still have nothing and essentially no vibes. Sick.

Blink twice if you need us to send a SWAT team to Les’ basement to free you

Forbes has had some bad luck so far this year in the portal. One of his top targets ended up not graduating, so not academically eligible at Wake. Now another target doesn't get to campus before going elsewhere. Yet another prospect following the lure of the bagman.

It will be interesting to see how Pack's team mates react to him getting the huge bag.

Ha - I'm wholly against Les and Cam trying to tell us Wake fans that things are rosy and that we haven't "missed" on anyone etc. Neither of those guys have been Wake fans as long as hardly any of us, so neither have the perspective or experiences with the Deacs that we have. So it pisses me off when they came down on Clawsin, or act like they know something we don't.

All that aside, I trust Forbes. I think are a boatload of great players left in the portal. Remember, Jake and Alondes weren't even top-100 transfers last year. Our staff have a great eye for under the radar talent, and they know how to put a puzzle together to make a cohesive roster to compliment each other's talents. We might not get the big splash names, but I'm taking it to the bank we go into next year with a talented team, regardless of who comes back from last years team.

But I don't need any insider to tell me that. Forbes is a magician, and he will do it again next year. Let's just hope we get over the hump and go dancing.

I would really like to see a commitment from a post big. Walton and Sy are officially gone. Marsh can't play 40 minutes. Size still counts in basketball.

I really don’t understand the reverence Wake alums have for Forbes and Prosser. Sure they were better than Manning and Buzz.

Forbes has 0 NCAA appearances
Prosser made the Sweet 16 a single time and was destroyed.

Both great guys. Shouldn’t our expectations be higher?

While I agree somewhat with this, especially regarding Forbes, Wake led St Joe's by 1 at the half and lost by 4 in the 2004 Sweet Sixteen.
