2023 WF Baseball - Schedule Released

rooting for a close game, ideally extras first. but agree uconn would be preferable.

UConn no doubt as pitching not as deep. If UConn wins I think we can advance. If Md wins I think we get to final game, but bullpen shows it lack of depth.

Only 15 pitches which is fairly light and guess he could pitch a bunch of innings Mon or else a few innings in the games tomorrow.

still really sucks.

i don’t have all the info obviously (eg i heard alder is not dressed) but have lots of questions about the management today, spent too many bullets when today is meaningless if we lose any of the next three.

the grace to wade combo was particularly confusing — what about all the guys in between those in the pecking order? (crum, oxford, andrews)? esp since golob was warming up in the 8th and 9th. and given we were riding hartle, surprised we didn’t push him through 8.

also wish we could have gotten tinsman some rest behind the plate. i would have played him at DH today, but at the very least give him a few innings off when we got the big lead.

What are you talking about? Did you want Hartle to throw 120-130 pitches? Wade was not burned for tomorrow let alone the weekend and he was the only regular reliever used. What bullets did we use that we shouldn’t have?

Agree except for the Hartle point. I would have loved for him to go all 9, but he was at a season high already. He was averaging about 15 pitches an inning and would likely have needed to go over 120 pitches to finish 8. I am not sure a MLB player has gone over 120 pitches this season.

ah for some reason i thought hartle was under 100 when i checked during the game (no pitch count on scoreboard), but looks like he was actually at 106.

Using Wade was not the end of the world, but it would nave been nice to only use Grace and Grzebenski.

We have to find an extra 9 innings this weekend over a team we have to beat twice. The less we have to use any of the main guys who come in the better.

UConn and MD in a good one. UConn got 2 HRs in first and 2-0 lead; still holding a 2-1 lead in the 3rd after Md HR.

Being in this losers bracket is not good. 80% of the teams that win their first two games win the region. That is to say whichever of Maryland and UConn wins tonight is in the driver's seat. The winner tonight would only need to beat the winner of tomorrow morning's game.

Woah. Campbell jumps on Tennessee early for 3 runs. that would be a shocker.

If I heard it right, the UConn pitcher against us broke the strike out (11 Ks vs us) record held at UConn since 1971.

Md ties it on line drive to plate runner from 3rd. Review confirmed safe.

2-2 & still batting.

UConn pitcher Gallagher comes back to get SO and FO with Md leaving runners at 2nd and 3rd.

Gallagher still pitching strong. Md still down 2-3 in the 7th.

3 run HR by UConn....6-2....I think they're going to win.

I wouldn't be surprised if they are in Omaha. Real solid looking team all around.
