Official Aaron judge at bat thread ( with the wake game in the background)

Judge is da man. Roger Maris holds the record until (and when) he breaks it.
Bonds is an embarrassment to the game. Fat head included.

Maris doesn’t hold any record. If you are referring to the MLB single season home run record, that would be Barry Bonds.

And if you fail to acknowledge that, then you should also recall that Maris’s 61 homers are tainted because he hit them in a 162 game season whereas the Babe hit 60 in a 154 games season.

Maris holds the team record, and the hubris of Yankee fans to think the rest of us should give a shit when their franchise largely ruined baseball in the early 2000s is truly a sight to behold.

And I personally don't give a shit how much "random" testing is done, I don't believe for one second anyone launching 50+ homers is clean. They've just mastered how to mask the drugs the best.

Yeah somehow we’re expected the believe the slugger for the richest team in the sport is clean.

Was The Depression real or was it only a Depression by name and definition only ?

Maris has the AL single season HR record with 61.

All of the roid guys that hit more (Bonds, McGuire, Sosa) were in the NL. FWIW, think it's funny that Judge has hit the wall with at 60. If he still doesn't have 62 after playing the Jays today and the O's this weekend. He will get the record against Texas. They are out of any contention, and will groove him.

Meh. I hate the Yankees with a passion but come on.

What about George Foster who hit 52 for the Reds in 1977 ? Was he juiced ?

Just curious what your cutoff # of homers is for you to consider the possibility that the guy is clean: 45? 40? lower number?

And Frank Robinson hit 49 in 1966. How much time do you think he spent in the weight room ?

Since I'm fleeing from Ian tomorrow morning (my apartment complex flooded badly during Irma in 2017, and they're saying this is going to be worse)....I'm pretty damn tempted to go to The Stadium to see Judge on Saturday over watching Wake, since I'm heading to my parents' place in New Jersey.
Safe travels whatever you chose but if it was me, I'd head to the Stadium. By Saturday, Judge will have 61 but you can check out historic 62 on Saturday.

how can we say for sure "by Saturday." guy is still at the same total from Saturday when we had to have our damn game interrupted so many times. I hope he doesn't get it out of spite.

And you are entitled to believe the joke, "record books". How do you feel about your HR Leader being barred from the HOF? Nice look. Maybe they should just photo his fat bloated head on a plaque.
While we can debate who should be in or out and why, as long as those guys are banned from Cooperstown, this is one BB fan who recognizes Maris....for now.

Hey, don't blame us for Bud Selig throwing up all over the game he was hired to administer.

I love baseball, but it's fascinating to me that some people care so much about single season records like this. It feels unique to baseball, I don't remember anyone caring near as much about Steph Curry setting the single season 3 pointer record for example.

Career long records are interesting to me because they feel more like celebrations of a great career, like Pujols hitting 700. Maybe I'm in the minority of baseball fans, but I don't care at all about single season home run records, particularly considering how ridiculous it is to compare one era of baseball to another.
