No such thing as walkability for lower middle class in the south. If you want sidewalks and public transit you either live in the hood or you pay 2500 a month for a 2bd apartment. The only thing in-between is exurban sprawl where everything is a 10 minute drive away.

funny, no talk about winters in cleveland/detroit (always just chatting about the lovely ol' summers) or having to be surrounded by ohio donks in the former (i can't speak to michigan population, but i assume its a lot of white gun nuts outside of the city)
winters in PGH aren't that bad 🤷‍♂️

probably better than they were 25 years ago too

problem with Denver is it feels like a massive sprawl

didn't really enjoy my time there

at least it's not Boulder I guess

Colorado is nice tho

I’ve never been to denver but people here tell me slc is what people think denver is in terms of ease of access to the mtns

Big cities in the South typically have only a few pockets of true walkability.

Walkability is an interesting thing. It has some very obvious advantages but clear downsides as well. Maybe others are just more thick skinned than me but when it’s raining or 10 degrees or whatever I’m just not about it. When we lived in Boston my office was like a 20 min walk and we didn’t even have a car so not much choice when it was shitty out.
Gotta take the train !!

always surprising to me the relevance of sports radio to some of our posters here

wouldn't be listening to sports radio if they lived somewhere walkable

Which is why they typically have awful street life and virtually no sense of neighborhood community that isn't manufactured by real estate agents.

Odd take bc some of the most prominent sports radio markets (NYC, Philly, Boston) are v walkable.

oh man i was way disappointed with boulder

downtown was just luxury retail and expensive restaurants

i expected some trace of boho vibes but didn't show me much culture

avery brewing was nice though
