Game of Thrones - House of the Dragon - (and beyond) Discussion (spoilers allowed)

I may need to rewatch it. I was exhausted, but it just felt like another time jump with foot dragging towards the inevitable death of the king.

I will say the time jumps have killed me all season. What’s the point? Just make another season or start the story somewhere else

Man, surprising reactions. Considine's performance was ridiculously good I thought - just a brutal depiction of walking death. Plus the gold mask, and when he ditches it... The mix of the kids hate with their mothers having a moment of friendship... The "oh shit" ending with the Prince that was Promised confusion, Daemon being the best version of Daemon...

Thought it was an awesome episode that perfectly handled the time jump. To each their own I guess.

Yeah I love this show, maybe because it’s the best thing that’s on these days

it was good but claiming that there are only 4 episodes throughout the GoT universe better is ridiculous

well we waited 7 episodes and 20+ years of GOT time to get to the king's death...ugh. the show is not great, but i have been thinking that once the king dies the show will speed up. so, we will see.

imo, the best scene of this show so far is the 20 minute scene of the sickly king walking to the thrown (gold mold on face was a nice touch). these was a ton of tension in that moment...well done.

btw, does anyone know the what the king's ailment was? i am at a loss

I've read that it's supposed to be leprosy.

this was my thought, but why has nobody else caught it by now (realistically 10-15 years in GOT times). at least the queen would also have it.

If I actually had to line them up by ranked episode it probably wouldnt be top 5. So a bit of an exaggeration. But I would probably still have it in top 10-15. I think people tend to forget that a lot of the big moments in GoT happen in the same episodes. The show tends to give you 4-5 plodding episodes and then hit you with 15 big moments in one episode only to plod a bit again.

For this reason a lot of lists I see tend to have some combo of "Battle of the Bastards", "Winds of Winter", "Hardhome", "Rains of Castamere", "Blackwater", and "Baelor" somewhere in top 5. And it is because those episodes hold the shows "big moments" and often more than one of them. That is obviously more than 5, but everything after that tends to be different or personal preference (at least in conversations or lists that I have seen)

Last nights slow crawl to the throne and Daemon's kill shot I think are up there in some of the best scenes in show history (Daemon is far and away the best season 1 character to me). And the confusion over the prince who was promised conversation was a terrific way to end the season. There was also lots of really subtle and brilliant moments in the dinner scene. It simultaneously humanized and villianized multiple characters.

Episode or moment/reveal? I don't remember the ep much but it was a great moment.

Great episode - probably my favorite so far. The tension in the throne room as well as the dinner came through phenomenally well. The king's death scene as the screen goes to black at the end was a really poignant moment as well - Paddy really leaned into the role and did a great job overall.
