Official US Soccer / World Cup '26 Thread (USA vs. Mexico 3/24 in Dallas)

I'm not sure how we can get in a fantasy draft for the WC on time actually given how long I remember the last one taking.
Any ideas?

That goes for anyone else that would like to play as well
Yeah it might be too late, though I think we can pull it off if we get signups done by Monday/Tuesday. Give a week or so to do draft.

Husky linked a game. If we can get the OG draft together great, if not, Husky's game might be a nice alternative

We need to do it like last time where you provide a cell number when signing up. That worked really well

dv7 is your boy running his spreadsheet again? I remember we split some winnings in 2014 and I won a couple grand in 2018

My guess:

Pulisic - Sargent - Reyna
McKennie - Adams - Musah
Robinson - Ream - Zimmerman - Dest
Turner

I came close to picking Weah, Jesus, and Aaronson

I honestly think we see Weah at the 9 to get Reyna or Aaronson on the right

we actually have talented players gifted with technical abilities that rival top nations now... so why the fuck would we play a guy that works really hard but cant even settle a 25 yard pass? he's shite as a footballer.

I love the idea of Reyna as a false 9 and pushing our wingers (Puli and Weah) up higher to suck in the CBs and hit them on the wings, but Berhalter won't ever move away from his decided tactics because he's a shit manager that can't adjust.
I have low expectations for this World Cup but that is only because I don't trust the manager. I think our talent is good enough for R16 or QF.

I rate Sargent more than Haji and Ferrira FWIW
Honestly don't know much about Haji but I've watched Ferreira a few times and he has some skill. Not a great finisher but can at least link up and contribute to an attack.
If we are just going to press the shit out of the opposition's back line relentlessly, then I would understand playing Sargent as he will work is socks off for 90 mins and run himself into the ground, but if we are actually going to try to play and control the ball then his inclusion makes no sense to me. His technique is horrific.

Ghana beating Swiss 2-0 in a friendly today is interesting.

Canada and Japan currently 1-1

I still think best role for Reyna is a modern 10/attacking mid, but barring something wild that would take McKennie or Musah off the field, which I can't see Berhalter doing.

you are spot on but Berhalter isn't going to a 4-2-3-1, I don't think
Adams is going to play a traditional 6 in a 4-3-3. And, in my opinion, Reyna has to be on the pitch, so the decision then becomes does he play at RW or ST? And if ST, do we give him the freedom to drop deep and hopefully drag a CB out of position for our wingers to exploit? Or a McKennie/Musah run from deep?
We have the talent to really cause sides problems if the reins came off a little bit...
