MBB Game 21: @ Pitt - Wednesday - 7 pm - ACCN

Hildreth had a great game except for the free throws. He is improving every game. Bradford should not play in the last 4 minutes of any game and we should be playing more zone., Zone brought us back into the game. Frustrating but we really need a big man who can score and make free throws. Could have really used Walton this year.

Disappointed with Forbes tonight. This 3 pt D has got to be addressed. We're making teams like Pitt look like national contenders. 18 3s! Really?! Bennett saw something and exploited it. "Get set 3s and our guys will drain a majority of them." They did just that.

Forbes said guards did a poor job of closing out. I'm starting to think it's a size/height issue. Appleby and Williamson are both little. Hildreth, as good as he is with the ball on O, gets beat on the outside shot.

How many will State make Saturday?! 20?

And that last play didn't look like much coaching went into it. Fading to the side by a guy who was like 1/7 on 3s with 2 defenders, both taller, blanketing him?

With 5 seconds it is kind of tough. you don't have to heave it down court but you need to hurry. you put it your best player's hand and let him make the decision how the game ends. He can make that shot so not a bad last play IMO. Keller got some minutes and not Klintmon which was a bit strange. At he end of the game I would go with Carr, Klintmon and Monsanto up front. Why Bradbury is in there at the end makes no sense.
 
that is just a brutal loss to take and really hurts WF's chances at the double bye.

Pitt now has a game advantage, the tiebreaker, and they have home games remaining against Louisville, BC, GT, and Cuse, along with road games at ND and FSU

you are right. it is a curse. I attribute it to Ronnie Wellman
 
Last shot was fine. Good look for a game winner from our best player. Can play hindsight but Tyree had a pretty open shot to end it and just missed it is what it is. A lot of issues ahead of that

I have NO problem with the last shot. Wide open. Squared up. Didn't fall.

I DO have a problem with giving up 18 three-pointers and abysmal FREE-throw shooting.
 
Hoping for a high seed and deep run in the NIT. That's a reasonable goal and would be a good springboard to next year.

Pitt is a big physical team. They remind me of Rutgers in a lot of ways. Klintman just isn’t quite ready yet, however, playing in that zone would have suited him. Long arms for disrupting passing lanes and good lord, he can’t be a worse rebounder than Marsh/Bradford. Would have been good for him to get some burn late in the second half when we sat Monsanto.
