MBB Game 21: @ Pitt - Wednesday - 7 pm - ACCN

I don’t know about you guys, but I just cannot seriously see @Duke on the schedule and even consider that a possible win.

23 in a row, 19 by double digits

as many 30+ point losses (4) as single-digit losses

embarrassing in every way

You wouldn’t want to bet your house that he’s going to make a free throw. He’s very good at most every skill in basketball except shooting. You take the good with the bad with him.

Wouldn't be a game thread without you dishing out a subtle jab at Cam. Isn't he like a 75% FT shooter?

Glad Daivien had a good offensive game but a bunch of those 18 3s were over him
Davien, try passing once in awhile when you drive the lane instead of forcing a shot over 3 guys 6'7" or taller! It would make you go from good to great.

Anyone hear Forbes’ post game? Really curious what he had to say about the lack of defense, lack of Monsanto PT, and the final play that was drawn up.

- Said defense is on him (effort tied in) and also talked in depth about fixing ball-screen defense. Gave Pitt credit (as you'd expect).

- Nothing on Monsanto.

- He said a few times he was fine with Ty's final shot, but was also a little conflicted because he also pointed out Carr might have been open on the pick-and-pop, and if Burton was cheating toward him, Hildreth would've had a backdoor cut for a layup.

Love this team but got to be clear eyed. Tonight was must win for NCAAs. Odds that we win seven of eight are about ten percent or less. Have come miles under Forbes but it's a long road back.

Carr might have been open, but realistically not sure there was enough time for Tyree to get to his spot, pivot, get the ball back to Carr at top of the key...and shoot. That's a lot in 5 seconds.

Yeah, that's why I said it seemed like Steve was a bit conflicted about it. He's also diagnosing it 10-15 minutes after his only viewing ... his stance on the play could be different in the matter of a few hours, once he's had benefit of replay.

Also, Carr would have pump faked as time expired.

We have a new Pumpfaker

tough L but he sees and acknowledges the issues. maybe we have a few surprises down the stretch.

Guys, our NCAA Tournament chances are done. You aren’t going to make the tournament when you don’t have a single player on your team who can guard a lamppost. I really want to like this team. They seem like great guys. They simply can not play defense. We are deep enough into the season now that we all know what we are—we are going to score points, but against anybody decent we are going to give up more. I mean, we even gave up a boatload of threes to LSU and App. The 18 tonight didn’t happen in a vacuum. Whether it is scheme, lack of effort, or a combination of both, we are a BAD defensive team. Period.

College basketball is simple. Make the NCAA tournament and for most teams that’s a successful season; miss the NCAA tournament and it’s a bad season. We haven’t made the tournament in 13 years ( I don’t count play in games) and unless we almost run the table from here out we won’t make it this year. So my question is to we hold Forbes accountable for making the tournament in year 4? Seriously how many years does he get to make the dance?
