Lobo

fair enough. i thought we did a decent job getting the ball to givens and camp, which was not easy since half the time we dropped back to pass, tanner ended up running for his life.

to read these boards, we should never get to 3rd down.

They have 6 catches each for 57 and 74 yards each. Givens has 4 carries for 39 yards.

So yeah, good job getting the ball to them.

We've run the ball 37 times for 110 yards, 3 yards a carry. All the backs got fewer than 3 yards a carry.

So don't you think Lobo should have gone to Camp and Givens MORE?

Lobo's scripted series to open the game are often really impressive. Once he runs out of script it's a bucketfull of 'meh' at best.

he scripts the first plays? didn't know that.

at any rate it was a mixture of failing to execute and bad plays. the D also failed in stopping 3rd down conversions.

He's a fucking moron. End of story. Great job by Pendergrass fumbling inside the goddamn ten though. Put his ass on the bench.

Been the case for a while. Lobo's ability to adjust never seems up to snuff. 0 points in tonight's second half is just the latest evidence of such.

So, absent his termination, clearly the answer is for Lobo to.script the first 90 plays of every game. Problem solved.

Fire joko Lobo. Worst football coach in the history of the world.

Definitely some questionable play calling tonight. Add in poor execution and it results in an anemic 17 point effort.

But where are the threads calling out the defense (or lack thereof) coming out of halftime?

Have you read the Game Thread?

Anyway, I expect lectro to handle that since he insists that you can tell the quality of a coach staff by how a team comes out at the beginning of the game and 2nd half.

This true. No ability to adjust at halftime.

One of the most frustrating games I've ever been too, whenever we got momentum lobo found a way to make some shitty ass play calls. Truly disappointed

Lobo doesn't consistently give his players a reasonable shot to succeed. And even worse in continually puts a poor OL on the field.

This is the 2nd time in the last 3 years we've had an experienced OL that couldn't get the job done. Next year, we're going to have another young unit and Lobo will get another free pass.

As much as I hate the Caldwell-moral victory crap, I don't remember being this pleased after a loss since pre-2006. We played well...we just didn't execute in the red zone, but that happens. Yes, the second redzone drive playcalling was horrible, but Lobo didn't fumble that ball on the first one in the second half. If you would have told me, ND would have have 1 turnover (let's face it- that first INT was like a punt), and we would have a good chance to win, there's no way I would have believed it. It sucks we lost but the fact of the matter is that ND is just better. They are better than 90% of the teams in America talent-wise. Nothing wrong with that.

No they aren't "just better".

Bigger. Not better. We had a huge speed advantage, but our genius OC and OL coach can't take advantage of it.

90% of the teams in the country couldn't cover Floyd or Eifert. I'm just saying our defense did a good job all things considered.

Exactly. We could have kept carving them up with the pass, but he kept going to our craptastic running game. 106th in rushing yards, 3.0 yards per carry.

This. The coaching was so bad it's hard to know where to begin. Still mighty proud to be a Deac tonight.

A decent OC would have put up 14 or 21 points on ND in the second half. I hate to break it to some of you but ND is really not very good. In fact, they would be a middle-tier team in either ACC division. VT was FAR superior to Notre Dame.

Chris Givens is perhaps one of the top receivers in the country.

This clown of an OC just pisses it away. Really bad.
