MBB Game 33: ACCT Quarterfinal - #1 Seed Miami - Thursday Nooner - ESPN

Honestly, while it is always nice getting tournament wins, it would be a bit disappointing to make a good run knowing that Wake isn't making the NCAAs without winning them all. Still good to get the wins, but just a bit empty.
Not at all. Wake is starved for acc tourney wins. Every one is sweet and satisfying.

We have GOT to have at least Carr and Bobi step up big tomorrow. Cam (again) and Appleby are going to be forced to do a lot on defense, so the bigs are going to need to step up on offense. Taylor didn't play a ton today, so maybe just stick him in Wong's pocket all game.

Well that was a short coaching search.

51 is too old. DR would not approve.

Can't coach 47 years if you start at 51.

We burned so much physical and emotional energy today, and we play again at noon. Coaches have to enforce some serious rest.

I'm still wondering wtf is going on with Bradford. He's obviously on the outs, but how do you lose a guy to non-injury right before the tournament? He went from being a sophomore with something to learn, to a complete washout. Nobody is going to want that attitude on their team, assuming he's transferring.

I mean that's a horrible hire for Cuse, you can't let Boeheim pick his replacement. Go find someone that people have heard of

seems like a chicken and egg thing

(perhaps he was told he wouldn't be invited back next year)

It’s not unusual to hire a former player and long time assistant to replace an old outgoing coach. UNC and Duke did it. Not surprised Cuse did it.

I think those were horrible hires too but hey Hubert went to the title game!

But it worked out for Syracuse. They hired a 32 year old former player and long time assistant and he coached for 47 years and won a championship.

Today was a monumental win for wake hoops historically.

I usually jest with you people but I’m serious. We just retired Boeheim and won the unthinkable: a round of 12 acc game.

I’m also glad we won because it looked like Coach was about to have a coronary. He willed us home there the last 10 minutes for sure.

Hard to believe we are only 5 point dogs tomorrow. You can make up for an awful lot with a March run.

wait

is this just the greensboro version of peter luger's?

can we hold off on anything resembling a celebratory gathering until after we're out of the acc tournament?

We’ll see with Autry. I doubt he’ll have a long leash. The hire makes sense after 47 years with Boeheim. Would be tough for a big name coach to come in and establish a completely new identity. Save that for if/when Autry fails.

Yesterday I was sitting next to a UNC fan while watching the game and we were saying it’s borderline criminal to turn over those programs to Scheyer and Davis. UNC in particular could have hired anyone they wanted.
