MBB Game 33: ACCT Quarterfinal - #1 Seed Miami - Thursday Nooner - ESPN

great game. Miami has great guard play. Proud of the fight from our guys.

My take is that we lost an incredibly close game to a much better team. I'll take that after the season we had. There's no quit in a Steve Forbes squad, and we were really damn fortunate to have this year with Tyree Appleby, Deac legend.

7 of our 14 losses are by 2 points. Love the fight in this team. Hope they get a chance to play in the NIT.

I love our Deacs.

But man, when is the documentary going to be made about all of our near misses, painful losses, inexplicable missed opportunities in our athletic history. It defies belief.

We had something good happen yesterday at that buzzer. No way are the basketball gods going to give us that 2 days in a row haha

Keep in mind for all who have dissed on Forbes; in the past two years he brought one ACC Player of the year and one AP p.o.y. Not to mention he was coach of the year last year. These players obviously talk during the off season, it has probably not gone unnoticed among these guys that Forbes has been able to bring transfers in who were average to above average at other schools but under Forbes these guys have been able to excel. Reputation travels far and wide and will pay huge dividends going forward...

So no NIT for sure? Man this team deserves to at least make it as a low seed
The "leading" NIT bracketologist had us as a #5 seed playing Villanova in Philly before today. That would be a bad matchup for us.

Doesn't even mention that Jake became a first rounder out of absolutely nowhere, and Bobi is damn well on his way to the same thing.

That game was the perfect encapsulation of this season. We overachieved, but frustratingly left so much on the table at the same time. The 7-14 from the free throw line, the open threes that Carr in particular would have knocked down if his hand was right. All to lose by two points one final time, in a valiant but ultimately doomed effort.

I am really proud of this team. They never, ever quit, which is something we haven’t been able to say very often over the last 13 years. Just constantly kept fighting, and gave us the best of every ounce of effort that they had to give. I remember saying during a run in the Georgia game back in November when we got a glimpse of that spirit that ultimately came to define this team that this group was going to make me fall in love with them. And they did—they played hard, night after night, even when the breaks started going against them. Well done, gentlemen. Can’t wait until we run it back in November.

And Tyree Appleby. The ultimate competitor, and one of the best teammates I have ever seen. Left his guts out there literally every night of the season. Constant enthusiasm. Can’t say enough about that young man.

Like most of the season we played really hard but struggled to get over the hump against the top teams in the league. Thanks Tyree for all you did this season! Next year is going to be interesting depending on the makeup of the roster.
