Sandusky Gets 30 Years

Paterno press conference at 12:20 p.m. today.

Should be interesting, to say the least.

WTF? I just read the wikipedia page for Ray Gricar (the guy who went missing) and apparently his older brother, Roy, also went missing ~10 years before Ray did. His body was found a week later and ruled a suicide.

Will be fielding football only questions......

I predict zero football only questions and a very short conference.

"Coach you play Nebraska this weekend. From a football standpoint, has the child rape scandal and coverup affected the teams mentality? And followup question, did you do enough?"

This conference is over!

Paterno press conferences are hilarious. He doesn't answer even them most benign of questions. He just argues with reporters then leaves in a huff.

Well, for this, I don't blame him. Sports reporters, I don't care what team they are covering, are generally terrible. I hear questions that make me seriously scratch my head, and I'm not an expert.

Last night after eagles game "Vick, you play chess...if this season was a chess match, what would your strategy be moving forward?"

Possibly the worst question ever.

Ok, back on track.... they will not stick to football, and you are right, this press conference will be over quick .

Yeah the guy who mysteriously disappeared without a trace just as another allegation surfaces.....should send up a huge red flag to anyone involved, unless of course they are doing the disappearing.....

all they found was his laptop in a lake. could not recover the hard drive

declared presumed dead a while back

Seriously. He doesn't answer questions about football let alone this issue.

With all that I have read thus far, this is so far from being over...and sadly, because it is my alma mater, it's going to get much much worse.

Yep. Penn State put out a press release saying only football questions will be answered. I'm sure they've begged Paterno to please be on his best behavior.

I believe the law is that you have to report these kinds of things to the authorities so I don't really think any of them did the right thing.

Definitely how I feel. I still don't think any of them pursued it enough, even had it been the first time, even if it had been from a less credible source, but knowing that there was a prior incidence just makes it inexcusable, IMO.

Well aware of the law, but I would report something like that, not one of my front line staff members. It is their job to report it to me. I call DSS and report to my Exec and HR.

What else have you read about?

He will have 2 lawyers beside him making sure he is.

I think you're right. Paterno can be a loose canon but I'm sure they've stressed to him know what's at stake if he starts flying off the handle. Thing is, I doubt more than one or two people will ask about Nebraska. Could be an uncomfortable press conference.

Im sure the same police that heard Sandusky admit to showering naked with little boys just determined that DA was out for his afternoon jog, with his computer in case of emergency, chucked his laptop in the lake when he got lost to lighten his load and just died from exposure out in the woods.....you really have to be careful when jogging.

What else have you read about?

All I have read, is what everyone else has read (the grand jury testimonies, newspaper, witness reports)..and this is all that has been public for less than a week. Once the investigations go deeper, and more information becomes public, it will get worse.

Well I guess that's my question then - is the law that ANYONE witnessing is required to report it or is it that a head of the organization/institution has to? If the former, internally, it might be the policy that you report to superiors but in this case wouldn't that be negated by the law?
