I'm being unintentionally negative about Charleston; it was mostly great during the time we lived there, I'm dying to go back and visit. To see how the city has changed, eat at my old favorite restaurants, and visit with friends still there. Just stopped being the right place for my family; doesn't mean it isn't right for plenty of people.

Sometimes I think the hardest part about teaching is holding in the laughter when a kid absolutely rips ass in the middle of a test.

i bet maximus is sooo pissed when he sees the layperson leveraging his biting criticism as a inquiry into simple enjoyment

Wife finally coerced me into joining Costco this past weekend. God I hate that place. Of course she also made us go on Sunday afternoon AND had to get gas there. Oh yes this minuscule savings on gas is absolutely worth the 20 minutes waiting in line.
yeah my wife told me to go to costco to save the $3 or whatever and the line was like 10 cars deep and I was like nope

Every now and then my car will tell me I have about 10 or 15 miles until I'm empty and I'll have in my head that I should keep going until I get to that gas station that is always 3 cents a gallon cheaper than the others and then I realize that I'd be pretty pissed standing on the side of the road after having run out of gas because I was trying to save half a buck.

there is a strain of culture that I associate with Charleston -- shag dancing and khaki shorts with loafers and folks that go to First [Denomination] Church and women that wear broaches, etc. -- that I really don't care for

i know the food scene is killer and the beaches are nice, but i don't imagine i'll ever lead an effort to go there ever again

That was big at Wake too. The Shag on the Mag for instance, going to that for the first time and seeing the rich kids from that subculture dancing shag like wtf is this shit.

only time I went to Shag on the Mag was my senior year and I had torn my ACL playing bball earlier in the day. I didn't know that was the injury I had it just hurt like hell. I did not do any dancing that night. Was abroad the year before which I think was the first edition (2006).

yet another way in which fealty to numbers causes anxiety

ditch numbers embrace vibes

look at how these numbers have betrayed you ! men have become the tools of their tools
