Conference Expansion: Stanford, California and SMU Join the ACC

Maybe, and I hope you’re right, but I’m skeptical.

Since Clawson started at Wake (9 years)
29-44 against ACC teams. 12-22 against the Magnificent 7.

During the bowl streak (ignoring his first two years):
27-30 (counts Pitt and UNC “non-conf”)
11-15 against the 7.

Our non-conference isn’t adding value to any TV deals/revenue.

I love Clawson and the fact he’s elevated our program. I think what he’s done over the last 7 years is sustainable. Given this period is our high water mark, I’m skeptical the next 7 will be materially better. So we strive to retain our performance over this fun period, and I’m not sure it gets us above average revenue share. And post-Clawson?
That's reasonable. But Clawson isn't running away from this revenue sharing plan. I think Wake will hover around a 8-9 win program under Clawson. He's got to fix the issues in November though.

I want what's best for Wake, but gotta say I'd love to see the Magnificent 7 pull something huge off and then have the pleasure of watching them knife each other. Additional question. How much cash does it take to run a football program. All we hear is revenue. I submit the SEC is a collection of the worst business managers in football. When Clemson won championships the SEC revenue already swamped that of Clemson. The attitude seems to be throw cash everywhere. No worries. More cash next year. I believe Currie is smarter than the combined fiduciary talent of the entire SEC.

ACC was more than dumb to believe Boston and New York care about BC and Cuse.
It wasn't about ratings, it was about markets. Syracuse is a regional excuse to put the ACC network on every cable package in New York, BC the same for New England. The problem is that the distributors are balking at the carriage fees for these regional sports networks, because the rising costs are driving away uninterested subscribers.

For additional merit context, here are the last five seasons of ACC regular-season results (combined) for the Maleficent 7:

Clemson 38-3
Miami 23-18
State 23-19
UNC-CH 21-21
UVA 19-21
VPI 19-22
FSU 18-22

Wake is 20-19 during that timespan.

I see Clemson and a lot of mediocrity. Wake isn't getting a major conference bid on the strength of winning 3 more conference games than VT. All of this recent success Wake has had is only notable for Wake fans, in light of Wake Forest's terrible history. Without that context we are just another mediocre program.

Right. Under a revenue sharing plan, Clemson would make a lot and most of the conference would just make about as much as they make now.

Take games vs. Clemson out of that list and Wake is a close 4th behind Miami.

We're not mediocre. We've gone to 7 straight bowl games

Finebaum is a joke. It isn’t news. It’s a pissing contest between Bama and Georgia fans and “Pawl” is paid to agree with both sides. You can get more news from a tree stump than that waste of airwaves. And this is coming from someone who actually likes the SEC.
Agree. I said “if” I want it.

We obviously don't have much idea of the revenue sharing criteria yet, but if one factor is conference football record, Wake is probably helped by having Duke, Ga Tech, and Va Tech currently. That might hurt our intra-conference RPI though, if that's somehow a factor. Since they've done away with divisions, and attempted to punish Wake with somewhat shitty opponents, they should just go with ranked order if conference record is part of the formula.

Gaslighting from the ADs conveyed by Phillips.

Straight up gaslighting from Phillips.

Lol The Repub NCGA and BOG has done a lot to damage the state of NC and UNC. The bathroom laws and the recent abortion “ban”are just two examples. It’s so weak to call a moderate a commie, particularly from someone who likely would vote for tRump again.
The abortion bill moves the cutoff from 20 weeks to 12 weeks with exceptions for health of mother, rape, and fetal abnormalities. It adds funding for free contraception and child care. Can't get more moderate than that.

there's an Auburn fan on 247 who dropped in to say that if the ACC imploded, he was hearing that the SEC would take FSU, Clemson, NC State, and Wake.
