How would you rate Nora Ephron? 3 mega hits and a bunch of big misses. Do the 3 hits put her in the upper echelon of writer/producers or do the misses show her weaknesses.
Is she the Demarcus Ware of writer/producers? Good but not amazing.
Seems to be a real bird. But that coloration evolved long before humans had guns.@birdman - What's the deal with this one, and how am I just hearing about this bird?
Evolutionary wise, what would be the advantage of the coloration? Seems like it would signal to predators its injured and make it easy prey.Seems to be a real bird. But that coloration evolved long before humans had guns.
Her three biggest hits were the three biggest rom coms of all time.
When Harry Met Sally, Sleepless in Seattle, and You’ve Got Mail.
She shifted the paradigm.
Also, My Blue Heaven is a personal favorite from my childhood and I also enjoy Julia and Julie.
Her “big misses” seem on the surface to be studio driven train wrecks.
She’s a .400 career hitter in the HOF.
It probably has something to do with rearing babies. They are ground nesting birds so that color would not be very visible to most predators just stuff at ground level below them, so like babies in a nest. It reminds me of how some (sea)gulls have that red patch on their beaks. (Sea)Gull chicks peck at that red bit and it stimulates the parents to regurgitate food for them. Experiments show that when the red color is covered or changed, the (sea)gull babies peck and poke mama’s face, feet, chest, etc, but none of that stimulates regurgitation. So, I am just guessing, but maybe something like that. Maybe it gives the babies a target to run and hide under if a predator shows up, or a spot to poke mama for food. The other possibility would be the red spot is for males to show off to females. Like a peacock’s tail, it is functionally useless and actually detrimental to life, but the cocks with the biggest tails get the most copulations. Nature is full of bizarre signals that one sex gives to the other to try and convince them to put out.Evolutionary wise, what would be the advantage of the coloration? Seems like it would signal to predators its injured and make it easy prey.
Garry Marshal vs Nora Ephron cage match, winner take all. Who you picking?
