Saudi World Golf Tour 2022/2023 Thread

Again, they have now made these "treasonous" players non-treasonous. How can you punish them for what you all are now doing but they just did it first? Hell the argument could be made they are the ones that made this possible. The hypocrisy snowball keeps rolling downhill.

Because they left the PGA Tour. The agreement here doesn't include guaranteed reinstatement to a tour that these players left

Merger isn't the right word. LIV isn't merging with the PGA. PIF is now partnering with the PGA and DP tours beginning in 2024 and dropping LIV. So guys without sufficient ranking points will have to go the Korn Ferry route. Guys with sufficient points will have to pay a fine in order to return, probably a % of their LIV bonus. And I do think there will be suspensions for named plaintiffs. Throw in LK's point #2 as well. And I don't think the Saudi prince will care what penalties the PGA and DP place on their LIV golfers because he is likely extremely pissed at Greg and Phil and the embarrassment that LIV has been.
you are saying this very definitively about something that best i can tell has not been decided at all. Do you have a source or is this just your speculation?
And you are going to suspend named plaintiff's? Hey you sued me...you're suspended?

I used to like Greg Norman, just like I used to like Phil Mickelson, amazing how quickly things can change. I bet he had a major woodie going on while that picture was being taken.

I think I mentioned it on here before. But my wife worked with Norman with his design business for about 5 years in the late 90s early 2000s. She really liked him and he treated her respectfully and extremely well. I do have a few stories about him but they are all positive and pretty much impressive. There was even a running joke around that time when my first son was born in '99 with blond hair (we both have dark hair) that Norman was the father because my wife was with him a lot. I always said that is fine with me maybe I can get jet usage out of the deal. I wasn't around Norman much but I always found him to be very friendly to me as well. I did play 9 holes with him which was enjoyable. This was right after he had lost the '96 Masters, I think it was less than a month afterwards. Anyway, it really disappoints me to realize what a piece of shit he is. Up until recently there was a picture with him on my desk .

Speculation. And sure, they can suspend. LIV players violated their agreements with the tour. I'm at least hoping for some stiff penalties for the larger offenders. And I'm for perma-banning Phil, though I doubt that happens. And maybe how they make it up to the PGA guys is say LIV players can't play the elevated events for a few years.

that's different than suspending them for being named plaintiffs

I don't get the point here. What are they all now doing? Taking Saudi money? That is not why these players were treasonous. They were treasonous because they left the PGA tour and started litigation against the PGA tour.

twitter seems to think that Rahm was about to jump? sorry if this haas been discussed

Rory is 34 years old and has an estimated net worth of $170MM. He has generational wealth.
While I respect Rory and Hideki and Rahm for staying, I don't feel the least bit bad that they missed out on more money. As was stated those guys already have generational wealth. Even the guys that didn't go that may not already have generational wealth, but still are well off, god-forbid any of their children or grand-children have to strike a lick at a snake to earn a living.

I see Matt Adams is trying to make himself relevant again.

Who knows. I find the timing of the negotiations starting right after the Masters to be interesting.
