Official 2022-23 NBA Offseason - Aces win WNBA Finals; Preseason; NBA Fantasy League last call

I think Grant Williams can be good elsewhere

shot almost 40% from 3 last year and can guard three positions

3-and-D guys are pretty valuable -- he isn't quite the prototype, but still effective

Yeah. He’s the one FA I want the Spurs to sign. Probably not going to happen now that they picked up Cedi Osman.

Reportedly, but that is Klutch being Klutch. Bridges has zero leverage, as was borne out.

Klutch: We want $30 mil/year.
Hornets: Your client just beat his babymama in front of his kids, hasn't played in a year, and his qualifying offer is $7.9. If you want multiyear, how about $15/year?
Klutch: Others will pay more.
Hornets: If so, where are those teams willing to pay more than $7.9 right now? We'll wait.
Klutch: He'll sign for $7.9. And then we will tell everyone we are far apart on a longterm deal.

It’s going to be fun when Lebron retires and klutch loses all their leverage

People are really freaking out about the Dillion Brooks deal. Dillon Brooks is a good player. Second team All-Defense. Averaged 14 ppg after averaging 18 the year before. $20M was the 64th highest salary last season.

In 2000, the 64th highest salary went to Jason Caffey. I barely remember Jason Caffey and I was a Bulls fan in the 90s. Caffey was in his 6th year in the league and had his highest scoring season at 12 ppg. He was out of the league three years later.

I think it’s crazier that Bane will make twice as much as Brooks given where they were two years ago and they put up near identical numbers one season ago.
I don’t think $20 million per year is crazy, but 4 guaranteed years was probably unnecessary.

He doesn’t have off the court issues. He just runs his mouth too much. Not sure what the Rockets are doing but I’m glad they’re trying. I’m also glad they don’t have the cap room the Spurs will have come January.

kind of amazing cap space is completely and totally worthless now. stars can sign a 4 or 5 year max and ask for a trade after 1 year to a team that they demand and it generally works out for them and we've become desensitized to it. it was a huge deal when dwight and carmelo did it back in the day, now harden's done it like 3 times in 3 years and people are just like okay. none of these guys even hit FA anymore, cap space is pointless. in fact the opposite, you need big contracts on the books if are lucky enough to be a trade destination for one of these guys.

I don’t think cap space is worthless. Cap space is valuable. That’s how the Rockets can get all this talent. But not having cap space isn’t a big problem.

One-time All-Star PG and a 2nd team All-D player in a market where few players changed teams. That cap space got them a good starting backcourt.

Malik Beasley and Robin Lopez to the Bucks. Beasley for 1 year, $2.7M is a steal. I just don't understand this league sometimes. Beasley is a career double-digit scorer who shoots .378 from deep. His off the court issues were awhile ago. Seems like someone would offer him a multi-year deal worth at least $7-10M a year.

I'm pretty sure last night's summer league debut between the Spurs and Hornets is the perfect foreshadowing of the next 10 years:

Wemby doesn't play for whatever reason. I don't even think he was there, he must have better things to do. Nothing like managing his load at 19 before his first summer league game. Over/under on games he averages per season through his career - 40?
Miller looks like crap but finishes with 18 points, though 12 came in the 4th quarter against 3rd string summer leaguers when the Hornets were down by 30. Solid empty stat padding against the scrubs. I'm sure Scoot will go out and drop 50 in his debut.

The stated reason Wemby wasn’t there was because he just finished his French league postseason less than 3 weeks ago.

The real reason is the league wants him to debut in Vegas at the official summer league. He’ll probably only play a game or two anyway.

Wemby has a high bar to meet. Two-way C Dominick Barlow had 24/11/1/1/2 on 10-13 fg in 23 min, showcased a smooth midrange jumper, and made Miller and others look silly on both ends of the court. Here he is with the steal and slam.

Miller has plenty of time to work things out but he looked like just another dude out there until garbage time. I had to remind myself he was the #2 pick.

Kai Jones had 2 pts in 21 minutes. I’m so glad the Spurs didn’t draft him. They’re better off with the Primo fiasco than hoping Jones turns into something.

Dumped after allegations of poor behavior towards a woman in the front office I believe.

She was a team psychologist I think. The only thing I’ve seen about Primo since the aftermath was a tweet that mentioned Primo was trying to get back in the league. That’s it. He was good enough to play in the league but maybe not good enough for the hassle. But seems like he’d be playing somewhere.

Bummer that OKC games are blacked out for KC market. They are going to be fun to watch.

what’s with Orlando waiving Bol Bol?

Geez. Dude can’t seem to catch a break. So much for the “We’ve got Wemby at home” memes. At least I’ll be able to watch him somewhere on League Pass if he’s not with the Magic.

Rumors are Suns and Mavs. So the Suns could add another good vet min guy.

summer league is famously great at predicting nba success

Yo Juice, you on the Brandon Miller hype train? He started with 0 pts on 0-2 shooting in 20 min tonight. He picked up 6 garbage time points in another blowout.
