the official new supreme court thread - Very political

Does inheriting a business from one's parents still make one self employed?

Again yes business owners payout the FICA tax. It’s part of running a business in America. It’s not some benevolent offering Reff. It’s legally required.

We can safely assume theReff pays minimum wage with a benefits package that includes listening to his racist jokes and being sexually harassed.

I mean it’s literally just part of paying an employee. Functionally, it’s not really any different to the employer than paying an employee’s salary, both are part of the cost of having an employee.

It’s a weird thing to repeatedly try to brag about.

Makes you wonder if some of his peers have found a way not to pay FICA.

I had no idea minimum wage in NC was still the federal floor. Good lord.

Good luck hiring anyone for the federal minimum wage in NC. I saw a help wanted sign at the Chick-fil-A in Waynesville offering up to $15 per hour to start.

Yeah my 16 year old is applying at Chick-fil-a and Starbucks and both are in the $13/hr range.

I started working at the Fresh Market at 16, making $8 an hour. That was approximately 20 years ago (holy shit), so $13/hr for the same work today seems low. If I was looking for a similar job today, I'd probably go to Costco.

But you're making big bucks as Fresh Market Deli Manager now.
