Yeah, I think that being able to pay for our kids’ college is our driving economic motivation. Luckily for us with the size of our school and the area we live in it’s not super difficult to find tons of scholarship money if they put forth any effort in high school.
I hear you.

We’re going to be doing college tours with our oldest this year, and it’s basically, “do you prefer App or NC State?” Because out of state or private might be cost prohibitive.

Well unfortunately, I think GM of the Patriots is slightly out of reach, so I went with attainable/for real life
NBA GM was my dream job when I was a kid.

Real life? I'm happy with what I'm doing. I've grown into the job and grown the job with me. I'll be happy doing this for another 20 years.

I had my dream job leading comms for HR, diversity and other associated stuff. Great team, good money for a state job, doing 60-70 hours/week. New boss comes in and made her entire team’s lives miserable with demands we couldn’t support. She had never managed people before and it showed. After about two years she was wrecking my physical and mental health, so I left. For at least half our marriage I’ve been the primary wage earner but I am so grateful that my husband said “leave, it’s not worth it, we’ll figure it out.” Used some connections for a PT gig that grew into a permanent role. Not as much $ and “power” but I’m a hell of a lot happier.

TLDR: money ain’t everything, y’all.

Your new boss sounded remarkably like the one I had at the end of last year, but that only lasted two months not two years. So god bless you.

Alright. Shutting things down, going to turn off the computer, worries about my kids college and all other real life concerns, and head to the mountains and 70 degree highs and an overnight low of 54.

See y’all Monday!

(well, actually I have to wait until my son finishes his summer school course at four, so might be posting a bit, but work is finito)

Just found unopened bags of Doritos in the break room trash where apparently the vending machine guy did his rounds and tossed the expired stuff. Gotta say, these still taste fine to me

Yeah I know but I looked around before getting them out.

The ultimate dream job for me is MLB team owner (and part-time game show host).

I'm trying to balance aspirations "for more" with my current situation which pays well and provides a ton of flexibility. The work isn't overly demanding either. Due to recent corporate restructuring, I essentially work for a religious healthcare organization and that's probably my biggest gripe. Also, my boss whom I really liked is leaving. I'll spend the month of August doing some values and clarity work to give me direction for my job search which I will start after labor day.

Not sure what the dream job is, but it would be great to somehow be involved in live music production / technology. Product Manager for Nugs.net would be way up on the list, to be honest. The opportunity to work at the intersection of technology and live music (and hopefully have cool perks like concert access) is about as close to a dream job as I think I can find. I don't necessarily enjoy extensive work travel and I want to be an active participant in my kids lives so being on the road a lot is hard lines for me.

Other than Mako any of yall's partners got kick ass jobs that bring home the bills?
my wife has a pretty good one in terms of pay for a teacher/school administrator. but she fucking hates it, but is having trouble finding something new.
