Conference Expansion: Stanford, California and SMU Join the ACC

Should the ACC still let nd park all its other teams here if there's no chance to get them all-in for football??

Maybe it's time to show them the door.
The 3 or 4 football games that ND plays at the home fields of ACC opponents are highly valued by those opponents, because they fill the ACC stadiums at premium prices. They also draw big TV ratings, which is good for the ACC. There is also supposedly an agreement that if ND were to join a conference, then it would join the ACC. Allowing ND to participate in other ACC sports doesn't cost the conference anything and it provides more scheduling opportunities for everyone. So it's not as good as having them as a full member but the current arrangement is a mutually beneficial relationship.

Sure. Friends with benefits. Why buy the cow when you get the milk for free?

First formal mention of a Pac-12 merger with the Mountain West.

While discussing a timetable, Barnes noted the program will “move expeditiously” but stressed it will take some time. According to Yahoo Sports’ Ross Dellenger, a possible move for the remaining four Pac-12 schools could be a “merger or partnership with the Mountain West.”

A merger under the Pac-whatever name could be a 16 team power conference. This would be the count for football in 2 or 3 years compared to the 2013 season when Cuse and Pitt joined the ACC and the Big East ended as a football conference.

ACC: 14 (14)
SEC: 16 (14)
Big Ten: 18 (12)
Big XII: 16 (10)
Pac-??: 16 (12)

That's 18 new P5 teams in 12 years.

Mt Airy is the armpit I left every weekend for 30 years while city professionals visited Bed and Breakfasts, a winery and Andy Griffith stuff. I still can’t figure the tourist attraction of the town.

Mt. Airy would be an ideal small town to live in imo.. Close to mountains and state parks. Stone mountain State Park is awesome. You also have "the wine country" of NC close by at Elkin, NC. Temperatures are cooler that part of the state without being boone level cold in the winter and plenty of little shops and restaurants that the women folk love.

Here are the only numbers that really matter:

Another college football regular season is in the books, so we have another year’s worth of TV viewership data to dig into.
Below, I’ve listed each school’s average game viewership for the regular season. And below that, I’ve listed every game that garnered at least 4 million viewers — a benchmark number in the eyes of TV networks.
As you peruse these lists, remember that TV viewership can be influenced by a whole bunch of factors, including game time, channel, competitiveness, and what other games are going on at the same time. Outliers can also sway averages, especially in a small sample size like this one.
Ranking the most-watched college football programs in 2022
The numbers next to each school indicate the average number of viewers per week for a 12-week season.
Streaming numbers are included when available. Games that do not have available data are counted as zero.

This list should be our guide to scheduling OOC.
Wake has three of the top 15 in 2023 - Notre Dame, Clemson and FSU.

Too bad top 20 Maryland isn't regularly on the schedule anymore. Lots of eyeballs in DC/Baltimore area.

ETA: stop scheduling NCState and u*NC because they are not top 40? Keep playing Navy because they are?
