Conference Expansion: Stanford, California and SMU Join the ACC

I told a higher up at UNC this week “Cal and Stanford would be a great fit academically.”

He looked me square in the eyes and said “this has 0 to do with academics. You sound like a stupid Wake Forest graduate.”

I couldn’t argue.
What is wrong with you

Again, WGAF. it's a god damn message board.
My guy, I say this with the weight of experience, as a law grad and currently looking for a job in one of the biggest legal markets in the country, we are most definitely not first tier on the national stage.
I agree with that. WF has traditionally been a NC and regional law school. But it’s not second tier on US News, and never has been.

Notre Dame has a full vote? SMH

I wonder if we let in Stanford, ND gets to continue to play them every year and use that as part of their annual ACC commitment, reducing everyone else's ND exposures

Well, could be one of their three permanent rivals. They would effectively be committing to two additional games by joining the conference. If that’s off the table, I hope and suspect the other members are filtering out any noise ND is making on this issue.

Must not be a very good friend since if he was he would’ve known you went to Duke as well and taken the opportunity to shit on you for that.

I’m sick of this argument but this is flawed logic: 1) there are far fewer law schools than colleges in general. So being 20th out of 100 is not as good as being 20th out of 1000; and 2) law schools are being measured against each other for doing the same thing. Not all colleges do the same thing. Some are focused on undergrads. Some are focused on grads. Wake Forest undergrad is typically top 10. The USNWR heavily weighs grants, PhD’s granted, etc. It’s super impressive that we have maintained the top 30 against the other schools in that range given the criteria of evaluation.
You forgot about the 100 or so for-profit or for anybody gets in who can pay law schools that have popped up over the past 15 years. There is a law school in Grundy, Va. Elon opened one and now High Point plans on it. Charlotte got closed up, but Charleston has somehow survived. Most of the grads from these schools don’t pass the bar and have enormous debt. And oh yeah, they are fourth tier.

Think ACC ought to lock in Lees-McRae for that sweet sweet Banner Elk market

I’m just anxious for Wake to land where they are going to land. I’m looking forward to the reading that will be available after Liberty is in the conference.
