Saudi World Golf Tour 2022/2023 Thread

odds are gonna be awful this week but we can find value to extract (probably not). Did I already bet JT Poston again, this time at 65-1? Of course.

Hearing chatter of Keegan Bradley for the Ryder Cup. Here are his finishes since the start of the year. Asterisks for majors and elevated events. Not that impressive. The win at Travelers gave him a big payout which has, in my opinion, falsely elevated him on the points list.

You're like bringing facts, man.

Is Koepka on the team? I don't want any LIV guys, but he's high up in qualification points. Guess a 2 at Augusta and a PGA win will do that.

Glover's win this weekend was more impressive given the field vs. who he beat at the Wyndham, but I think the "hot hand" argument for inclusion is always thin. Though it would be potentially entertaining to see his wife in the mix with all the other WAGs.

If you want the best 12 golfers you want Koepka.

When healthy and motivated, Koepka is the best golfer in the world. He has Scheffler's tee to green game but is better on and around the greens. But no, I don't want any LIV golfers involved in the RC.

I still only have the Poston bet so far. I like Cantlay here but it's hard to pull the trigger on him at the same odds as Jon Rahm. I've got a bonus bet on MGM again so I'll probably use that on Rahm and then use the +300 DK boost on either Rory or Patrick. Hard to bet Scottie sub 10-1 the way he's putting. I mean you just can't overcome how bad he's been on the greens no matter how well you strike it.

Think Tom Kim is worth a look as well. Hideki catches my eye around the 35-1 spot but he has some of the same issues putting (not as bad) that Scottie does.

How much do you take into stock what course they're playing on when you bet? I remember liking Olympia Fields and look forward to seeing it again, but I don't remember too much specifically about the course. The only general memory is it's a traditional and neat old course.

It's among the toughest courses that is not a major (it has hosted majors in the past) Played super tough when Rahm won there in 2020 (-4), when he beat DJ in a playoff: Niemann was tied for 3rd.... All long hitters. It's not a regular tour stop, but it gets worked in the Fed Ex Cup playoffs. The opening hole is a 620 yard+ par 5.

I put a susbtantial amount of stock into the course since it dictates how heavily I'll consider various stats when weighing guys (driving accuracy, putting, strokes gained on approach and within certainly distances, etc.). This includes green size, fairway width, type of green, are there lots of trees close to the fairway, what's the rough like etc.

If there's a premium on ball striking and accuracy on a course where finding the fairway is more important than the average course when compared to just bombing it up close to the green, this is something I'd always want to account for.

So how is Olympia Fields influencing you this week?

FWIW, I also think it's cool that the DP and LPGA are doing a joint event at Galgorn Castle this week. And you can't have too many tournaments in the UK and Ireland.

Looking at guys who have good numbers from 175-225 out as well as how guys play par 4s in the 450+ range. Rory checks these boxes off pretty well and so does Hideki.

This is a ball striker's course. You need to have some length but I think strokes gained approach is a big one.

The more research I've done, I like Rory and Rahm a lot on this course. If we're looking at form options too with good upside, Homa, Henley, and Grillo all spring to mind. Glover does as well but I'm not betting Glover at 30-1 lol

There has been a decent run of longshots winning, but think that ends this week. One of the big 3 is going to eat this week. The course sets up well for all of them.

That said, will likely sprinkle a little on the two Cams as my bombs this week: Davis and Young. They both have the distance to hang here, and this course plays like a major where Cam Young often over-performs.

Cantlay and Glover both looking for 3 wins a row in some capacity. Cantlay won the last two BMW's played at two different courses. It would truly be something if he did it three years in a row on three different courses.
