Wisconsin is a unique program as they get everyone they want from in-state and because so many of those guys don't even get recruited hard by other programs (since they aren't leaving the state); their recruiting classes are rated lower than the results on the field as Wisconsin keeps producing NFL lineman, DL and LBs; many of them are walk-ons or two stars -- like the entire Watt family.
Not surprisingly, the weakness of the Wisconsin program has been generally at WR and DB as the state doesn't produce as many standouts at those spots, and if you are an out of state WR, why would you pick Wisconsin? Always thought that WF and Wisconsin could orchestrate a perfect roster if they could make trades as WF's strengths and are Wisconsin's weaknesses as vice versa.
An air raid offense at Wisconsin is going to be a radical change; think it will take time to work out the kinks. Wisconsin is the perfect example of the flawed Big 10. They are the prohibitive favorite in the Big 10 West this year even though they are transitioning to a new system with a new QB, new HC, new OC and DC. It's not because Wisconsin is stacked; it's because literally every other program in the Big 10 West is a mess, personnel-wise and with plenty of scandals (Northwestern, Minnesota, NW).
