Chat Thread: It's a cruel cruel summer

We played up the mountain last night and it was mid 70's during gametime. It will be 93 at practice time today so we probably won't be allowed to practice outside. I'm over summer.

It doesn't get that hot where I am in FL for more than a few days and that's only the heat index. I don't think anywhere in FL gets to 100 degrees. Feel free to come visit us in February though.

yeah, temp's one thing one - but Miami had 46 days of a heat index over 100 this summer, and ocean water temp at 100 as well. No fucking way. I think we may come down to Disney/Universal around Christmas though -- outside of these places, we're out on Florida because of a different climate issue.

definitely did in the Panhandle when I was growing up. I'm headed down to the beach next weekend and I was checking the weather and at 8 pm last night it was like 92 feels like 105.

don't let him fool you. It's miserable. when the Real temp is in the 80's and the Feel's like is over 100 (like today) you are in some sauce.....

yeah. Sun will have been down for 3 hours and it still feels like the upper 90's. hell no
 
Man telecom companies are the absolute worst. Got in to find internet not working, reset everything twice and nothing was working still. Chatted with a rep and asked if there were any outages in the area or maintenance that may make this a larger local issue than just issues in one location. They said there is maintenance scheduled for tomorrow morning to fix equipment damage in the area but there aren't any local outages on the system.

I said great, is that still a reason why our internet may be down? They said they weren't seeing any issues with our modem on their network so they'd send a tech out but if it turns out not to be on their end there would be a $99 fee for the visit.

Sure I guess since we...need the internet. 10 minutes later I get an update emailed saying "there are local outages in the area but everything should be restored by 1 PM."

Fuck you Comcast. I called back and somehow got the same customer service rep who was like "well that's why I said there was maintenance overall, there may have been other issues in the area." Then why the fuck would I want a tech to come look at our equipment if you knew there were local outages. "I only found out about the local outages after our conversation" like within the 10 minutes between us talking? I guess that's possible but feels pretty fucking devious. But hey never ascribe to malice what can best be explained by ignorance/incompetence amirite?

Not allowed to practice outdoors because it’s in the 90s? Either my high school constantly broke that rule or that’s a new one.

Honestly...Hanlon's Razor has been life changing to me. I am so much less angry

We had this rule in Winston when I was in high school. We ignored it for golf since it was off campus and who the heck would even know since we all drove to the course separately anyways

Yeah I probably overreacted but I was annoyed that he wasn't just like "yeah man maintenance may cause some local issues hold tight for a little bit and if it persists let us know." I mean that's why I asked him that point blank! Then he tried to gas light me by saying "maintenance in the area can always cause issues with local connection, which is why I told you there was maintenance tomorrow morning."
