2023 MLB Thread -- World Champion Rangers - Hot Stove Warming Up - Soto to the Yanks - Ohtani's destination unknown

Anyway it’s a lot more fun to be the “fuck the haters” kid in the video than the “ummm well AKSHUALLY” guy on the internet.
exactly

that's why we boo

you get your world series but you also have to be the fan of the team that cheated

(Unrelated point, but I had the realization the other day that Alex Bregman is spiritually a Philly. He would fit right in on that team.)
He doesn’t look dirty enough to be a Philly. He needs the long hair and a nasty looking beard.

I agree that Astros fans should embrace the hate, no one would be that mad if the team didn't win. Altuve gets boo-ed because he's the most recognizable face of the team. Most fans aren't over-thinking it, just having fun. I'm sure it's frustrating for Altuve the human and for fans who know more, but Altuve has millions of $$s and you all have WS celebrations to make you feel better at night.

Agree. I hate the Astros. Their owner is an a-hole; they parted ways after low-balling their GM after winning the 2022 WS. The previous GM Jeff Luhnow is a prick, who refused to admit any knowledge of the cheating scandal while letting AJ Hinch go; Luhnow also was the responsible for over 50 cities losing their minor league franchises as he was the architect of the restructuring of minor league baseball and shortening of the MLB draft, all so billionaire owners could make a few extra bucks.

With all of that said, no one would hate the Astros any more if they sucked. The hate has continued because the Astros won the 2017 and 2022 WS, won the AL pennant in 2017, 2019, 2021 and 2022, and they have made the ALCS 7 straight years. For those that are fans of the Astros, embrace the hate.

I’m experiencing that sensation of secondhand embarrassment for a stranger on the internet

Definitely embrace the hate - bring it on!

And as to Bregman, I usually say something like “he’s a jackass, but he’s my jackass and I have no problem admitting I’d hate him the way I hate Bryce Harper if he was on any other team.”

I ran into a young couple in Wawa last night who noticed my Phils jacket. I said to them that I couldn't decide if I wanted a revenge rematch with Houston, or Texas. I immediately checked myself and said, "but first we have to get there."

It's important to not get ahead of oneself, but man it is nice to be 2-0.

How DARE you hate Bryce Harper!

jk jk jk

btw, there was a moment in the playoffs when Harper knocked his own batting helmet off while rounding the bases, and it reminded me of when he did the same during his debut for some stupid reason

Ranger Suarez vs Brandon Pfaadt living up to its hype as the premier pitching matchup of the postseason.

I hate Craig Kimbrel. I trust him less than any other Phillies RP. I don’t think he’s had a clean inning all season.

I'm not much of a Kimbrel fan either. Otherwise, the 'pen is solid.

I thought everything went well. Ranger looked healthy and good. Phils will need him since he's a swing pitcher.

They just need one game in Phoenix. It doesn't matter which one.

Maybe the next starter won't be as tough as this one was. I'm hoping.

The results of a pitcher they had never seen and a less than stellar HP ump.

Thanks bluefish!

The dbacks are starting Mantiply, who you may remember from game 2. If the Phils struggle to hit tonight, then it's time to worry.
