Who thought MLB needed afternoon games with only 4 teams left?
That’s really how they want to grow a dying fan base?

This is how the league championship series have been scheduled for the past 20+ years or so, as far back as I can remember (anytime there are days when both the ALCS and the NLCS are being played, one is at 4pm and one is at 8pm). Do you think MLB would rather have overlapping games tonight, cutting into the ratings for each?Who thought MLB needed afternoon games with only 4 teams left?

I’m a little surprised they don’t just go every other day and alternate series to maximize revenueThis is how the league championship series have been scheduled for the past 20+ years or so, as far back as I can remember (anytime there are days when both the ALCS and the NLCS are being played, one is at 4pm and one is at 8pm). Maybe surprised they aren't doing it to maximize revenue but that would just bastardize the series format of baseballI’m a little surprised they don’t just go every other day and alternate series to maximize revenue
I understand what it meansMaybe surprised they aren't doing it to maximize revenue but that would just bastardize the series format of baseball
Basically if you play just every other day then it is a 2-man rotation

"Sell the team, dude," May continued. "... Sell it, man. Let someone who actually, like, takes pride in the things they own own something. There's actually people who give a s*** about the game. Let them do it. Take mommy and daddy's money somewhere else, dork."
"If you’re gonna be a greedy fuck, own it. There’s nothing weaker than being afraid of cameras.”
Yes, it was originally scheduled for 7pm. Not sure if it was just the NLCS or that plus the soccer game at the Linc.Did they Flyers change their start time because of the NLCS? 6pm is atypical for weeknights in the NHL.
Step one completed. Now on to step two. A+, Mr. Nola, A+.Back to MLB reality. I'm hoping that Mr. Nola brings his A-game tonight.
I don't know the numbers, but I have always felt that in a 2-3-2 format that it is imperative for the home team to start 2-0.
The Phillies are playing a particularly brutalist form of baseball right now. Their game has all the subtle beauty of a 50s Soviet apartment block. Meanwhile the mighty Texas Rangers are going to sweep the hideous cheatin’ Astros. It’s really got to be a World Series of good and evil.
I believe the 5 game series is to prevent mid November World SeriesI feel like people are overcomplicating things. The longer the series, the less variance in the outcome. A 3 game series is designed to effectively punish the wild card teams for not having done enough in the regular season to earn a more consistent result.
Considering the length of the MLB season and the historic value placed on winning the pennant, I really have zero understanding of why the divisional series are 5 games, allowing things like Max Fried only getting one start in the postseason after 100+ wins.
Any other gripes seem pretty minor to me. Sure, spacing out the series helped the wild card teams this year because pitchers got so much extra rest, but oh well. And the Phillies are playing insane baseball right now so they probably win anyway. Regardless, the 5 game series to end a year of dominance seems ridiculous.
