I am pretty sure my first concert was Luna at a small club/restaurant in NYC. Followed by Blues Traveler at the Roseland Ball Room, Phish at MSG and Dave Mathews at Jones Beach Amphitheater. All in 94/95.
Man I can get fucking down to some Blues Traveler even though John Popper ended up being kind of a nut

A 16yo hillbilly Mako broke into the world of live music with a Rage Against the Machine/Wu-tang Clan concert back in 97.
Jesus that's a hell of a first concert. I saw RAtM on their most recent tour and they're easily one of the best sounding live acts I've seen.

Caught Wu-Tang in like 2018 or 2019 and they were solid too. ODB's kid did all of his parts and was really, really good.

Y’all just get a babysitter for a random night with no plans?
We decided to try a new Indian place (really good) and grab a night cap at the listening / hi-fi bar (my favorite bar in town). Ended up being a solid night out considering there was no plan!

When we saw RAtM they closed with Killing in the Name. During the song the camera was going through the crowd and the video was on the big screen behind the band.

Pretty normal stuff of people getting down, but then the camera focused in on one man. This was probably the one person they could have shown who was able to get everyone around us to immediately stop whatever we were doing because, in this moment, everyone needed the human connection to acknowledge and verify what we just saw.

It was none other than the mayor of Falvortown himself, Guy Fieri, with two middle fingers up screaming "fuck you, I won't do what you tell me" into the camera.

Gun to my head I could not name a single Peale Jam song.

I’m certain I’ve hear them. I’m just not a big music guy.

Also, my parents listened exclusively to the Oldies station until I was in high school so there’s a big music gap for me.

I remember seeing that on reddit and then learned that Guy is probably MAGA and Anthony Bourdain despised him which made me kinda sad.

Another sketchy food show personality story. I know someone who was a PA on the original run of Man v. Food. Apparently Adam Richman was a notorious womanizer and would pick up women at his eating challenges on the reg. Like they would fly into a city, this dude would eat like 10 lbs of food over the course of the day, he'd bag multiple women, and then they'd be on the road to the next place.

I'm sure you've heard Even Flow or Alive. Maybe Better Man or Daughter.

This sounds like a great job.

idk if he's a maga but he seems to sometimes associate with some maga adjacent celebs, but by all accounts he's a good guy. he does a shit ton of charity work and has built a cottage industry filming his shows in his hometown so it gets people employed. seems like a lot of Top Chef alums have been brought under his purview through various Food Network shows of his.
