QB Going Forward

That's a big part of the problem. Clawson earnestly thought Mitch was the guy and he was way off. And there's a good chance we're stuck with Mitch for 15 more games. Clawson has missed on every QB since Hartman. Can we assume a legit P5 QB is on this roster or in the 2024 class?
PhD, have you had some kind of Clawson issue before that I’ve just not noticed? These seem almost personally antagonistic in a way I’ve never seen before from one who has always been one of the most reasonable posters here.

I've read his post 3 times and I'm still lost how it's remotely personal. What am I missing?

That’s a weird question. I’m just commenting on a very ugly stretch of Wake football. Griffis is easily the worst starting QB I’ve seen at Wake going back to Kuklick and Rusty my freshman year. I like Clawson but he messed up so bad this season that we can’t ignore his other problems. I was confident that the new schedules would help his ACC record but I’m not as confident now.

Yeah. There are other people on other threads who are being way more personal and almost antagonistic about Clawson.

Isn’t the offseason Jan-May? I know there’s Spring ball but going to Europe a month or two before the season starts is a head scratcher. He pretty much said he was in Italy and didn’t take any phone calls/emails because of the time difference. And he clearly isn’t recruiting all year long. Also, “this job sucks enough” is hilarious, many of us don’t get off-seasons nor do we get millions to coach a game, not saying it’s an easy job (it’s stressful as hell), but don’t tell me how much a millionaire coaching job sucks.
We can talk about compensation but nobody that posts on the boards has a job as 1/1000th as stressful or as time consuming as a college football coach.

This is true and it doesn't help that he's doing a media campaign/comms push to cover for that mistake that isn't remotely convincing

Broadcasters for two weeks now are talking about how Clawson was more convinced this off-season about his QB1 than ever before in his career

Dogg, that's not something you want to admit, let alone lean on as an excuse for why we fucking suck this year

ETA: it makes me think about stubborn fuckers like [Redacted] and Manning, who used to shove rainbows up our asses (and broadcasters') in every presser

Maybe you should try four times. The “these” of “These” would imply that I wasn’t referring to just that post.

Maybe you should try being more specific. We're all pretty familiar with each other's arguments at this point since it's the same 15-20 of us complaining about them. Ph's critiques don't strike me as remotely personal, though certainly critical (and I think the criticism is fair, fwiw)

Makes sense. Thanks.

I was saying the same thing to my brother last night. I started going to games in ‘92 with my family and I cannot remember a qb worse than the one starting right now.

We've been blessed with decent to solid QB play for years, like 6 to 8 on a 10-point scale. We've complained about QB play, but rarely has the QB been the central problem with the team. Usually QB controversies have been about which decent QB should play. Over the last 30 years, only CJ Leak was close to as bad as Mitch.

I can take it 55 years. CJ leak, Brent Offenbecher and Mills’ first QB before he got Mike Mcglamry.
