Wake v. Georgia Southern Thread

That was a really bad performance, we had no inside game at all. Our 4 and 5 guys managed a combined 2 buckets against a team that won 1 southern conference game last season.

after 2 games...we are short, weak, little depth and only have 2-3 players that can shoot.

just win baby!

After last season, I'm going to enjoy every win we get. We'll all be lamenting our faults very soon, when they really start getting exposed which probably starts when we travel to Orlando.

I only watched half the game, but TC (and maybe I'm biased) has the 'it' factor. He seems fearless on the court. If he can continue to improve on a weekly basis, we will have a solid player for the next few years.

Just one Philly resident reppin' another

More like the 'shit' factor, amirite?

Its pretty obvious Fields will be starting by ACC play. Its not even close.

If TC can take contact and finish layups like he did last night, I see him maybe subbing-in as part of a 3-guard rotation when we go small. I still don't see him as a good enough ball handler or passer to play point--and I'm totally sold on Fields. But as a 3rd guard along with CJ or Chase, TC could be alright in spurts, especially if he draws contact and makes free throws. Or improves his shot, but the same could be said for everyone.

I agree. If TC wasn't a subpar basketball player, he could potentially be productive on the court.

But we are undefeated. The rebounding was the story last year, it is the story this year, and nothing about the 2012 class leads me to believe that it will not be the story next year.

We will win games in the ACC of we shoot better than 50% from 3. That is really the only way that I see it happening.

I agree. Disappointed that Bzz doesn't see that.

We are two games into the season, and Fields was injured for a substantial amount of the preseason. Give it time. Fields will be starting a game within 5 more games if this keeps up.

Welcome to the boards!

We have a 3 playing 4 and a stretch-4 playing 5. This will not change at all this season and it doesnt matter who we play as long as they are D-I. Really hard to accept, but true.

Carson's got to learn just to squeeze the ball. He's so worried about immediately passing it when he gets his hands on a rebound that it gets stripped or knocked away. Just bring it into your chest and clear space with your elbows. I'm sure he's strong enough to do that more than he does.

I don't think it is as much a matter of strength with Carson as it is a matter that he is just a soft player. All finesse and no power to his game.

He needs to develop a mean streak, not that I think that will all the sudden happen. Probably just not in his personality.

Hell of a passer for a big man tho.

Another thought: Ty looked good in his suit last night. Is there any hope that he'll be able to take Nikita's spot when he comes back? Any chance he's finally learned how to rebound?

Completely agree. I'm fine with him being a finesse player except when rebounding. He should store up all his meanness, whatever he has, for rebounding.

It could also be entirely possible that TC is outplaying Fields every day in practice, but just hasn't had a game that reflects that yet. Like Texas says, though... if he keeps playing better at game-time, it won't matter. He'll get his minutes.

Both Ty and Carson have weak hands. I'm not sure what you can do about that. There have already been multiple times this year alone where Carson has both hands on the ball, seemingly secured it, and a guard or small forward just rips it away from him.

Cannot wait until Devin Thomas gets here.
