again, I'll post about how it was a fun day having to explain open enrollment to my Finnish boss one day when we were meeting about projects I was working on
 
Man, there is 0 percent chance I'm making it to Christmas break without catching the flu or covid. I'm missing about 1/3 of my classes right now and then another 1/3 of them are here hacking and dying.

I have so many night mare stories of health insurance denials. My favorite was 14 years ago insurance denied my (now ex)wife's appendectomy because the ultrasound they did to confirm the condition was not pre-approved. We got a $25,000 bill from the hospital. Appendectomies are by definition emergency surgeries, but the insurance company said "if it was an emergency, why didn't she take an ambulance?" I spent many hours on the phone and wrote many letters and had to get her Dr. to send a notarized letter before they finally approved the procedure.

Heard something this past week that resonated with me quite powerfully. I’m really really terrible at meditation but it has been kicking around my brain ever since.

  • Tell me how you feel about minorities - please be specific about which ones are good and which ones you hate.
  • Is this how you usually dress?
  • What's up with your face?
