Disney World Tips and Tricks

Are you my father in law?

im not sure why anyone stays anywhere other than Boardwalk/Beach/Yacht club. have fun all day, go to dinner, back entrance to Epcot for a few late rides that are packed during the day. with the genie plus you can hit test track and occasionally do multiple soarin' runs or whatever if you're so inclined.

100%. Not to mention an easy walk to Hollywood Studios. Swan and Dolphin are good too and we've gotten decent Costco deals to the Swan.

I think we'll try to do the Polynesian someday if we find a deal we like (since we've never done it), but it's hard to argue against those 5.

Did you need a second mortgage to afford?
Back in 2018, we booked a Disney Alaskan cruise for 2020. We saved up our Disney credit card rewards. We bought a few thousand dollars in Disney gift cards on sale. Of course, the cruise was postponed due to COVID. In 2022, we switched it to a Royal Caribbean cruise and got two rooms with a balcony for about half the price of one Disney room without a balcony.

i understadn them. i'm just talking about best practices. there are a ton of resorts at different price points but some people will choose others at the same PP as the ones i listed for some reason, like "being able to see giraffes", i guess

We have DVC at Wilderness Lodge. I love it, but wish we had Beach Club or Boardwalk for the EPCOT access.

Is your reason like "being able to see wood"?
That's what was for sale at the time. We'd stayed there before and liked Wilderness Lodge. The boat to MK is great and it's a quiet location with a very good pool and outdoor restaurant and bar.

If we'd waited 6mo, they would've had Riviera with Skyliner access.

Swan and Dolphin are also Marriotts, so I can earn or use points there. Not to mention, I often find <$200/night rates there on some slower weekends (which is my preferred time to go). Doesn't get any better.

Because some of us are poor?

Lots of deals at ehw good neighborhood hotels too.

I really like the feel of wilderness lodge. Home resort is okw but have only stayed there 1-2 times.

If you’re within a few hours drive you can also sometimes find some real deals on dvc rentals. People didn’t bank points or didn’t have enough for a week so you can get a partial week at a discount

Wilderness Lodge and Beach Club are my favorites. Grand Floridian is just kind of sterile.

we're gonna do our first Disney trip with our son (4) this year. my mom's Christmas gift to us was to cover the hotels and meals. my sister will hopefully go which means she can get us military priced tickets which is great. and I was doing some preliminary searching and I should have enough Southwest points to cover our flights. looking forward to it. my mom and sister are passholders so total pros when it comes to scheduling and getting to all the rides you wanna do, but since it's our son's first time and I'm honestly not sure how he'll react to it all we're prob gonna ease things in. he will probably enjoy most things like the monorail, ferries, walking around, etc. the rides I'm not sure about since he sometimes likes fair rides, sometimes not.

Aren't you in Asheville?
I suspect you know this. But just in case - they're starting direct allegiant flights to Orlando this summer. And my wife has taken allegiant a few times to Sanford airport with no troubles. It's crazy cheap.

Yeah was looking into it. Either Allegiant isn’t offering them or hasn’t opened up yet for Sept when we’re looking to go

Man, I remember watching the PI ads on the info channel in our hotel room. That’s amazing
