2023-24 Wake Forest Basketball Season - 21-14 (11-9) - KP#29 / NET#43

I agree with the first part. Good thing Pepsi places often have Dr. Pepper.

Is this news?
About Ituka? Forbes was pretty optimistic about him on the coach's show this week. Sounded pretty pessimistic about Monsanto.

Yeah, f'real. I haven't heard anything on Ituka. I admittedly don't listen to the coach's show.

At this point I’m just not expecting Monsanto to play this year. Maybe he does and if so great. But by the end of this month we are basically halfway through conference play and he’s not even practicing.

This seems like the correct take. Ituka is apparently back at practice today, or Forbes seemed to think he would be on the coach's show.

so Monsanto definitely tore the surgically repaired ligament when he was home, right?

Getting Ituka would be nice. Not sure where the minutes would come from. I guess spot first half minutes for whoever has 2 fouls.

Monsanto debuted on Jan 19 two years ago. That seems unrealistic this year. But he'd add so much to the team that any contribution would be helpful, especially if this team makes the tournament.

Totally agree. We’ve just gone from “Damari is a starter” to “Damari will be a huge piece off the bench” to “any contribution would be big”. I want to be realistic with myself and not keep talking myself into how great this team could be with him at full strength given the ambiguity of the situation.

Yes to spot minutes -- we have one stretch per game where Boopie sits, Sallis takes over at PG, and looks good, and Hildreth looks completely out of breath (to his credit -- he's really hustling this year). I'd give Ituka a shot to run the offense for a few possessions --- let's see what he can do, finally! We already know he can "get into the lane against anyone," so I'd like to see some of that. Does he get into the lane and dish to Sallis for 3? Score? Get his shot blocked?

Forbes insinuated Monsanto is HUGE to return (duh), since once he steps on the court, paraphrasing: "I guarantee you they will need to have someone come out and guard him and that opens things up even more (for Sallis/Cam/Boopie)...I promise you that" which is basically our man Forbes saying injured Monsanto is essentially, automatic from 3-point land.

Hildreth played 30 min vs. VT and 38 vs. BC. I'd like to see his minutes get closer to 32. But I feel better about Monsanto doing that than Ituka.

With Ituka available, Forbes could turn up the heat with the press and sub like a hockey coach.

I know Monsanto is older, but you have to imagine there is a chance he comes back. NIL could pay more than Europe or the G-League.

Is Lunardi tweeting out daily updates to his weekly list? Is that much different than putting an up arrow beside teams that win and a down arrow beside teams that lose?

I like the part about Arizona where they need a current 1-seed to lose to move up to that line. Well, those four teams probably aren't all going undefeated the rest of the way, so, yeah...
