Without doing a full census, it seems like every starting 7-footer is highly skilled (vets like Jokic, Embiid, or Vucevic or young players like Sengun, Wemby, and Chet), great rim protectors/all-around defenders (vets like Gobert, AD, Capela or younger players like Kessler, Gafford, JJJ), or man-beasts (like Valanciunas, Bitadke, or Nurkic). Most of those guys are a combination of the three. Most rotation backups are in the same vein but not quite as good.
There was talk that the C position would become obsolete and small ball would take over. But the centers are just so good that teams either have to play the one they have or play a big to defend the other team's talented big.
PF is obsolete. Guys who were PFs 5+ years ago transformed into big wings (like Aaron Gordon or Lauri Markennen) or centers (AD, Al Horford, Bam Adebayo).
Both Reid and Carr would have to make the NBA as a center. As far as Wake players go, I was surprised Dallas Walton didn't get on a Summer League roster because he was a pretty good rim protector and could shoot from three.
