Video Game Thread - $70 Zelda Expansion!

Oh I see. Yeah I need to reload slots for myself and Shadowheart, though I’m going to try to not rely on that as much I think.

the one nice thing I'd say about A2 is they do a great job of making the world feel legit terrifying and intimidating, and I appreciated the way it slowly removed the threat as you progress. felt really natural

the flip side of that, of course, is what an absolute pain in the ass the curse stuff is to navigate (from a QOL/meta perspective, not from a difficulty perspective). hope you like being forced into turn based combat for the hundredth time because one of your party members forgot how to jump!

I long rest all of the time. Supplies are readily available and
after you get to Baldur's Gate, you can buy supplies from the kitchen dumbwaiter at camp.

I just mean once you experience mid tier play nothing really changes except you and the enemies get a little stronger.
Gotcha. I can definitely see that as discouraging if you don't have a completionist goal like completing all the shrines and lightroots. And that's especially true if you're trying to get to the next game. I thought I would get to Street Fighter VI and we still haven't gotten it yet.

i think my buddy freaked me out by telling me pretty early on that if you long rest too much you might accidentally progress story stuff (I think I long rested a ton in A1, but mostly after the main story stuff had been settled)

i actually can see where that would have messed with a thing or two in act 2, but in general i probably swung way too far in the other direction

supplies are everywhere, not sure I'd ever want or need to buy any

I love when I ran into that guy and the game really wanted me to get into it with gale and when he said “I’m sure you have tons of questions for me” I just picked “not really”

Anyone who’s anyone romanced Shadowheart.

I get the idea of the game loop but to me it's still fun and challenging. I've only beaten one temple and have maybe 13 hearts or so just from exploring. Still getting wrecked by the gloom hands and I had a pretty epic battle today with a frost gleeok that was really good. It's been really fun just exploring and I'm always deviating from what I intended to do because something else caught my interest.

TOTK enemy diversity improved significantly over BOTW. But there are still only maybe a dozen types of basic enemies with several variations each, seven mini-/sub-bosses (Gleeoks, Lynels, Hinoxes, Gloom Hands, Taluses, Flux Constructs, and Froxes), and the four bosses. I feel like they could do more. But maybe any game would get repetitive after 300+ hours though.

Yeah I feel like the world is much better in TOTK with the sky islands and to a lesser extend the depths, but the quest part... I kinda miss the tighter quest lines from previous games. Also didn't feel like the dungeons/bosses were anywhere close to as good as BOTW's divine beasts. But the new powers and just the overall world are so ridiculous it's still an incredible game.

Some of these device builds online are insane. I ran across two big wheels and a stone slab out in the open so I figured the game was telling me to make something and I made the derpiest two wheeled vehicle possible. Would love to know what I was really supposed to do with it

Saw discussion about the new NCAA video game in the realignment thread, so I thought I'd share this. I started an NCAA 06 Dynasty with Wake back in November and this is my progress so far. Currently in the middle of a season and just clinched an ACCCG spot.

Update: Beat #5 Virginia in the ACCCG and #1 Texas in the National Championship! Finished 13-1, with the only loss in OT to then-#23 Clemson in Death Valley. Sophomore RB Mike Hale won the Heisman, with 34 touchdowns, 1896 rushing yards, and 141 receiving yards.

I'm still blown away by how kickass this video game music is

For my money there's never been better game music than FF3/6, the 2 Ori games, and Hades. But I've never played or listened to Octopath Traveler, to be fair!

Getting back into BOTW since I never finished it the first time. I'm enjoying it a good bit, and obviously think it's well done, but I do feel like I'm missing SOMETHING overall. I got through two of the Divine Beasts during my first venture through, and am about 3 hours in now. Maybe it's just overwhelming with so many options as far as runes/recipes/weapons, but I constantly run out of arrows and breaking all my weapons. Is this just part of the game? Should I be finding cooler ways to kill the goblin camps (I know I can blow up the TNT things) instead of brute kamikaze force?

buy as many arrows as you can in towns. go fight some Lynels or Hinoxes and pick up some stronger weapons. But yeah they'll break. You just gotta be constantly picking up new ones.
