You still biking and PDXing?
ehhhhhhh - I stil have lots of bikes. Not racing right now. I'm going to do a marathon this coming fall, and then segue the fitness into racing cyclocross again. I miss it. Still very much in Portland; we're here for sure until my stepkids are out of high school.
I've got two kids now, 4 and almost 2, and a lot going on with work. That all kills opportunities to ride and train like I used to. I miss it.

Finally caught up on the whole day of CT. Man, this was an extra long day. Up at 4:30 am to get hubby to airport for a work day trip. Crazy busy day at work- big proposal deadline (submitted 1/2 hour early), then had eleventy billion emails to read/flag/act on since I'm on PTO tomorrow. Spent 4 extra hours at work doing that and getting docs to my boss to review tomorrow & over the weekend (another big deadline on Wednesday for a different proposal). Then picked hubby up at RDU at 9:45 and drove home. Now to pack to go to Georgia to do late Christmas with my family. #MeSoTired

Yeah, life can defs get in the way of stuff. I never rode with the gusto that you did/do (like 0.00000000001%), but I did a number of races and rides and liked it. But ultimately traded my bike a little while ago since it was just collecting dust and taking up space.

Traded it for what?
I am not yet willing to part with any of the ponies in the stable, but am legit looking at e-bikes (with kid-toting capabilities) because that's just where we're at in life these days. I would love to get back to some good long road rides, but honestly cars have gotten SO much worse in the ~5 years and it scares me a bit to ride on the road like I used to. I'll drive routes I used to ride and just wonder wtf I was thinking. No way I'd be on those shoulders now, but riding scared is no way to do it. I think I may look to outfit my road frame for more gravel adventures... tire clearance will be the biggest issue, but I think I could get some pretty good tires on there that would allow gravel and other mixed terrain to be fun.

Lols, traded it for bourbon. ¯\(ツ)

But riding in the city (DC when I got rid) had become so unbelievably stressful that it became so hard to remotely enjoy it. I don’t understand how people are ok with city riding on a daily basis. Its soooo unsafe. Yes, I could have, and did on occasion, drive out to MD or VA to ride, but that made it that much more effort.

Yeah, I hear that. Weirdly enough, I actually feel safer riding closer in to the city in some aspects. Heavier traffic is easier to predict than one-off erratic drivers out on the more rural roads with narrower shoulders. My biggest riding deterrent right now is just fitness. I've been doing more lifting and strength work; my cardio sucks. Everything is so difficult, and it's disheartening when I know how 'easy' things used to feel. Woe is me, etc. etc... it'll come back, but it makes the first steps that much harder to take.

1. Steve Berry / James Rollins
2. Asia / Flogging Molly
3. This was hard, but I guess for the length of time I've enjoyed his work, I'll go with Tom Hanks.

I mentioned your questions to my hubby, Wolf1297, and he shared his answers:

1. Tolkien
2. Beastie Boys / Dropkick Murphys
3. Robert Downey Jr.
I've enjoyed very much the Berry and Rollins stuff I've read. Need to do some more. I like John Sanford, Michael Connely, and Lee Child for some solid reading entertainment. I'm a sucker for a good crime procedural.

@lbE08 Mouse ears is a woman I met on bumble who is an “adult Disney” person. She has mouse ears for every occasion. Plans all her vacations around Disney trips. Often goes for long weekends.
She’s one of two or three in my current “dating” rotation. But she’s really sweet. I’m planning to move to NY from FL to take care of my parents. She’s not a long term person. We’ve probably been out 3 or 4 times but text regularly

The rest of the stress is much more significant. :)

1. Christopher Moore or Andy Weir
2. California Honeydrops or The Dip.
3. Charlie Hunnam or Ryan Reynolds
Use to be a big Christopher Moore fan, especially enjoyed the Death Merchant stuff, but then I had a weird interaction with him on Twitter and kind of lost interest in his recent stuff.

Which is your favorite?

Young Timmy was all about the Flogging Mollys. The Devils Dance Floor, Black Friday Rules, If I ever leave this world alive. Saw them a couple times live. I could still probably do word for word most of their stuff up to 2008.

I also enjoy a good Tolkien meme.

I saw Flogging Molly at HOB in Myrtle about a decade ago. I love their music but it was very underwhelming.

the important thing is that you're making time for us here on the CT. it is really nice to see you back.

Time to ride and grind with a growth mindset. Morning Diggler.
i did not rise and grind until 5:45 today so i missed your 4am window.
