• Welcome to OGBoards 10.0, keep in mind that we will be making LOTS of changes to smooth out the experience here and make it as close as possible functionally to the old software, but feel free to drop suggestions or requests in the Tech Support subforum!

Let's talk about the return of Damari Monsanto

I would think our offense is going to function quite differently next year. Alondes is the type of guy who can charge down hill and finish at the rim or kick out if help comes. Aside from some ball handling lapses, he was phenomenal at that. With the offense presumably running through Jake and Monsanto next year (and maybe a transfer PG), it’s going to make us a more dynamic team bc we will have better shooters. For all the things Alondes does, Monsanto’s kit will open up the floor more. And honestly, from what I’ve seen, when Monsanto wants to pass he is very capable. Maybe not in Alondes’ god tier, but damn good.

I expect him to average around 20/6/3 next year, which will put him in some very good conversations.

20 PPG would have led the ACC this season by almost a full point.

He definitely has the tools to be a top player. He is still pretty raw in some areas of this game. He has been great in the 6th man role, not sure if that will automatically translate to elite production as starter.

I think he’s a more dynamic scorer than Alondes, but you’re right. A: being a good 6th man doesn’t make him a great starter. B: He’ll be going from being the 3rd or 4th priority for defenses to 1st or 2nd. Most teams in the ACC treasure a lock down defender/athletic wing, so he will be going against the best. I just think the sky is the limit for this kid. Good size, sweet stroke, and lots of energy/passion.

20 is a lot but Alondes scored almost that much and he wasn’t an aggressive scorer or shooter from deep.

I think Williams is actually below 30% from 3 on the season.

ManMan was shooting 33% on 3's after the Duke game at Cameron but since then is 2 for his last 22 to close the season

I give at least partial credit for that to tired legs after playing more minutes at WF than he did in two years at Oklahoma

somehow, the WF Media Guide has not been updated to include Damari in its list of program 3-point leaders, and somehow, the WF roster page has Damari's 22-23 stats posted incorrectly.

Damari currently sits 17th on WF's all-time 3-point field goals made list with 121, converting 40.2% of his attempts. The only player ahead of him in # of makes who is also at or above 40% is Rusty LaRue, and the line has moved back twice since Rusty played.

#10 on the WF list is CJ Harris with 162 career 3-pointers. Would be nice to see Damari shoot his way into the top 10 before the ACC tournament.

Passing CJ Harris would be insane. Harris is 5th in career minutes. Monsanto would have played parts of three seasons.

yeah - there are three players in the top 20 who have played fewer than 100 games: #11 Daivien (86; 154 3PM), #16 Dinos (96; 123 3PM) and #17 Damari (44(!); 121 3PM)

Harris played in 124 games, with a shorter 3-point arc. WF will need to win some postseason games (more than we have won in a long, long time) for Damari to play more than half that many.
