2024 Wake Baseball Thread: What Did We Do To Deserve This?

3 runs in a midweek game against uncg. We could be in trouble this year if our pitching isn't amazing. Hopefully that will snap the program back to reality. I don't mean to be a downer but there's not much encouraging on the offensive side of the ball.

You are correct. We don't seem to appear close to last year's hitting prowess.

last year's team was very good on offense against bad pitching, okay against average pitching, but not good against good pitching.

i actually think this year's team will be more even and hopefully will improve as the season goes on.

nice to see the freshmen (nelson and morales) had solid PAs

We are going to win a bunch of games this year on the backs of our pitchers. We'll need a few guys to step up and learn how to hit the ball if we are going to be an Omaha or even Super regional team.

to be fair - 99% of sports fan (not even just regular people) realize that college baseball has started

The sky isn’t falling. It’s February.

But the bats are going to need to figure it out. I’m not worried about Kurtz or King. But everyone else needs to figure it out.
I’m still worried about King. We have a small sample size from the Cape and the rest is against D2 competition. To be fair to him, I wouldn’t be as worried if we weren’t relying on him to protect Kurtz.

Nobody does as well as he did on the Cape without being a legitimately good baseball player.

Worry about Katz, Reinisch, and Houston if you want to worry. But even there, I’m gonna choose to accept that weird losses happen in a high variance sport and move on

I’m not as worried about Reinisch. He’s the only one of those 4 (including King) who has had a sustained run of success at this level.
