Basketball Coach

Anthony Grant is the best ideal candidate, has proven he can build a program and recruit in a BCS conference. I get the feeling that Shaka would be a better recruiter than Stevens fwiw.

This is all hypothetical. Realistically, I fear that our candidates are much worse.
 
I'm pretty sure even Lon Chaney would be better that what we currently have.

We could not pay Anthony Grant what Bama is paying him, but he would be great.

More realistic: Gregg Marshall.
 
I think Marshall would jump at the chance to get back to the Carolina's. Can't believe State passed him up!
 
I think Marshall balked at USC after Odom and stayed at Winthrop...Not sure of the reason
 
Two young coaches that haven't been mentioned are Sean Miller and Josh Pastner. I understand most wouldn't want Pastner based on his ties to Cal and Memphis. However, both of these guys are two of the best recruiters in basketball. Both would be able to get 4 and 5 star talent at Wake. I have a feeling Sean Miller will be on the short list once Roy retires. If Coach K has his way and he will, then Duke will probably go with someone inside Duke family. Dawkins and Chapel seem to be most likely at this point.
 
Why woul;dn't miller stay a Arizona for the next quarter century? There's no real upside in going to Carowhina.

Pastner's ties to Calipari are tenuous. He coached under Calipari for a year, but the majority of his short career was spent at Arizona under Lute Olson.
 
I certainly hope Duke stays in the family. That coaching tree is mediocre at best. Certainly no Roy Williams there or anything close.
 
It's likely Dawkins will come back from Stanford.

i'd love to se what Roy williams would do at De Paul.

Miller is an East Coast guy and I've heard his wife wants to get back to East. Plus, Carolina is a top 2 or 3 job. Arizona is probably top 10-15, but isn't close to being in Carolina's league.
