Using a coupon on the first date revisited

I was ahead of the curve, bitches!

"Using coupons is hip. The one thing Groupon has done for the whole space is make the coupon business sexy. Think about going on a date with your girlfriend: When was the last time you brought a coupon with you? And it's not an embarrassment anymore."

lol ladies cream their panties when they see a straight bawse slap that Restaurant.com printout on the table with authority and say "you bet your sweet ass we're ordering dessert!"

Need $5 to hit the minimum order limit! Get that cheesecake!

Not that it matters now, but if I ever were to go out with a girl who looked down on me for using a coupon, it'd be the last date with her.

To the curb you pretentious hooker.

whoever put the "cheapassmotherfucker" tag missed an opportunity for "CheapBumDeac"

The Wussification of America folks.

If anyone actually looked down on me for using a coupon I'd kick them to the curb, but if it was a girl I actually liked then there is no chance in hell I'd use a coupon....at least until dates become more routine

This. Can't go with a coupon on the first date.

I finally landed a date with this girl who I had liked for a couple months, and we agreed to go out to dinner at a semi-classy Japanese restaurant. Over the phone she exclaimed that she happened to have a coupon to this place. I told her sweet, bring it along. Well, when we finished eating she told the waitress separate checks and then proceeded to use the coupon on her bill. I was stunned. I tried to tell her, um, that's ok, I can pay, but in her mind she thought it was easier and less of a burden to split the checks. Dropped her off and never spoke to her again. I saw on facebook she had a kid last month. Good for her.

I'm definitely in favor of the non-awkward use of coupons at dinner.

If you live in NYC, LA, San Fran, DC, Chicago, Boston, Philly, Denver, Miami or Atlanta you've GOT to check out villagevines.com for your next dinner date. Making a reservation through their website costs $10 and in return you get 30% off your entire bill including alcohol. Absolute can't miss deal. It's discrete too you just tell them you made your reservation through Village Vines when you arrive and that's it. I've used it several times in the DC area.

Agree with bacon. Regardless, you shouldn't be going to Chez Fancy on a first date anyway. If you're going some place out of your price range to impress a girl, that's your own fault.

Dreamin, cheap women are definitely a turnoff. A woman who won't reasonably spring for something is not worth it. There she could have just dropped the coupon and you could have paid easily.

i have no problem with guys who use coupons on dates if i've been hanging out with them for a while. but i do think it's a little tacky to use one on a first date. you've got to make a girl feel like she's worth it. and using a coupon doesn't really come across as "you're worth it."

I have to agree here. Especially since I also agree with the earlier posts about not going somewhere super nice for a first date. I always feel like if a guy takes me to an expensive restaurant on a first date, he's just trying to buy his way into my pants. But after the first date, coupons are totally encouraged!!!

Definitely. I wouldn't have used a coupon, but she brought it up. Hey, whatever. I think it was more that she was just socially awkward about it and may have felt weird that we were eating at a nicer place (though still well within my price range). But she handled it completely wrong. Just let the guy pay no matter the circumstances.

Just checked this out - sounds awesome, but Atlanta isn't live yet (neither are Miami, Denver, Philly, Boston, or Philly). Will be waiting patiently.

She must not have realized you have that zappos.com hookup. FWIW, that was a super tacky move.

Ah my bad I just checked out the site and listed the cities on the drop down :tard: The company just raised a few million dollars recently so they are rolling it out on a larger scale. Definitely keep an eye out because it is awesome.

My fiancee used to pull the whole "I'll pay for my own meal" thing. Some feminist, independent woman, "you're not getting in my panties" kind of thing.

Now I pay for most dinners.
