If VT beats Clemson...

The BCS is so weird:

Virginia Tech was 5th last week while Stanford was 6th.

Virginia Tech wins 38-0 against UVA
Stanford wins 28-14 against Notre Dame

Stanford is 4th this week, Virginia Tech is still 5th

VPI won by 38 points and dropped 4 spots in Sagarin's rankings

Georgia and Michigan State also flipped spots (Georgia from 13th to 14th, Michigan State from 14th to 13th)

Georgia beat Georgia Tech 31-17
Michigan State beat Northwestern 31-17

MSU moved up 2 spots in Sagarin, Georgia dropped 4 spots...for beating a rival by 2 touchdowns. WTF.
How does this happen?

DT, what if I had LSU and you had the field? With money on the game, who would you pick to play LSU?

Probably Oklahoma, or USC. Maybe Oregon with how they are playing now. I would have to go through and look at the depth charts and injuries and whatnot, but it would be one of those three.

Why not OSU?

Well with money on it, I would want the best possible matchup, and I think that would be OU, SC, and maybe Oregon.

I get what you're saying, but really we don't know if OSU is good enough to beat LSU. We can speculate, but we don't know unless they play. We do know Bama isn't as good as LSU, because they lost to LSU at home.

I think he's saying with a gun to your head, if you had to put a team on a field versus LSU, and were killed if that team lost, who would you pick?

I already answered that. No, I wouldn't pick a team that could not beat LSU at home. How comfortable would you feel with that pick? I would look at the depth chart and injuries for Oklahoma and SC, and go from there.

In your opinion, who are the two best teams this year? Irrespective of what conference they're in or who they've played?

I would be fine going with a team who outplayed LSU most of the game and had 7 possessions inside the 30 yard line but only managed 6 points, or at least, more fine with them than any other option.

I think LSU/Alabama opens up probably LSU -2 in New Orleans, whereas anyone else is -7 or more.

I honestly don't know. This is where a plus one would be awesome. LSU/USC on one side and (OKST/Oklahoma)/Bama on the other.

LSU is the clear #1. After that it's tough to sort out, but I would have zero problem with an LSU/Bama title game if they went through #3 and #4 in the BCS first..

I just have a problem with crowning the SEC, and giving the rematch based on the SEC hype/love fest.

Ask yourself the question that I posed earlier. Would we even be talking about a rematch if it was 11-1 GT and 12-0 VT? I seriously doubt it, even with an awesome OOC schedule, there is no way any other conference could pull a rematch in the MNC.

Shorty and Legendz, don't waste your breath....haters gonna hate. Alabama got a second chance after choking against LSU because everyone else ahead of them choked against lesser competition later on in the year. The BCS is unfair, but that's not Alabama's fault.

Why don't all you haters just man up and say you are jealous of the Tide. Its okay. They got lucky this year. But they are gonna make the most of their second chance and roll the Tigers for number 14. And to those that say that Alabama's offense is "inept" and a "borefest", have you seen Trent Richardson run this year? RMFT!

If somebody has a gun to my head I'm most definitely taking the known quantity. Alabama can match LSU physically and won't back down. Nobody has a clue what you'll get out of any of those other teams.

That all actually makes perfect sense. Humans rewarded Stanford for beating a good ND team. The computers killed VT because their loss (Clemson) lost and their best win (GT) lost. The computers also aren't allowed to take into account MOV (which may actually be better for VT since they're way lower in all ranking systems that take MOV into account).

LSU would beat VT like a rented mule.

I know people hate, loathe, despise the SEC but that conference plays at a completely different level. If you need any further proof, their red-headed stepchild just beat the living crap out of us 41-7.

Virginia Tech 7 LSU 48 2007

Rivalry Saturday--- # 2 ACC team [ Clemson ] gets demolished by # 4 SEC team { USC }, 6-6 ACC team [ Wake ] gets demolished by 6-6 SEC team { Vandy }, #5 SEC team [ UGA } thoroughly whips #4 ACC team [ GT ], # 3
ACC team [ FSU ] beats #7 SEC team { Florida } but gets less than 100 yds offense.

Dear God,

No LSU/Bama rematch. I cant stand that shit.

Thank you

I don't understand why people can't seperate what they want from what makes sense.

There is no doubt in any rational person's mind that LSU and Alabama are the two best teams in the country as of today. If LSU beats Georgia there will be, and should be, a rematch.

If LSU loses to Georgia there will be a rematch as well. Nothing on the final Saturday of the year can change the title game at this point.

I don't understand why the rules are different for the SEC. You realize this has happened before, right?

2006, Michigan had the better schedule, and their only loss was to #1 tOSU. They were ranked #2 until Urban Meyer lobbies his way into the championship game. Florida crushes tOSU and SC crushes Michigan. How ridiculous would it be if we never had the opportunity to find out how good Michigan and tOSU really were because we had to watch them play each other again?

Boise State says hi.

I think a case can certainly be made for OSU. They have more wins against ranked opponents than bama. If OSU rolls OU, I think OSU should get the shot and I think it will be very close in the final standings. I think alot of voters have kept bama at #2 for fear of an LSU loss along the way. Now that the Tigers are in, no need for bama. OSU made up about 1/3 of the difference with bama in this weeks poll. A convincing win over OU will sway the voters. I think bama and OSU are 2/3 in all computer polls and OSU has one more game against a rank opponent.
